Open Thread: Hillary wins the debate

by: masslib

Hillary won the debate tonight.  Obama won when he channeled Hillary on health care and energy.  McCain won when he channeled Hillary on HOLC. McCain SUCKS on Health Care.  Absolute disaster.  Frankly, I didn't like the middle class tax cut rhetoric from Obama.  We can't afford it.  But McCain absolutely blew it on health care.  It's a right, John.  But what would you know?  You're probably on Medicare.

Hillary has ANOTHER very good plan on the bail out:

Also, I've been emailing Hillary to dig deeper on health care and support Medicare for every man, woman and child.  Japan and Switzerland rode out poor economies mostly due to their broader social safety net, particularly single payer health care.  Will you join me?

Thanks. How absolutely weird (0.00 / 0)
that given the economic crisis we are in, she is not going to be our next president.  I still can't totally understand it.  But it is what it is.

McCain was a crack up (0.00 / 0)
My jaw hit the floor as he described HOLC, but the delivery was so mechanical you could tell he was pandering.

A crack up... (0.00 / 0)
as in major car accident!

This had to standards for modern Pres debates: (0.00 / 0)
- most boring
- least informative
- best imitation of a major car accident

I can't think of one debate that was less enjoyable.

After two P and one VP debate, the indy audience tracker makes it clear that indys don't care about taxes at all, they hate Iraq but don't understand it, and want help from government programs, especially indy women. Oh, they hate direct attacks, and love upbeat delivery.

It's striking that corruption on Wall St and in govt doesn't strike a chord.

And lastly, Hillary would have crushed either one of those clowns.

I can understand why McCain has such contempt (0.00 / 0)
For Obama.

He's gonna be beat by yet another punkish kid propped up by the media.

Bill And Hillary To Campaign With Biden In Pennsylvania
By Greg Sargent - October 7, 2008, 5:02PM
For the first time, both Clintons will campaign together for the Obama-Biden ticket.

Hillary and Bill will be campaigning alongside Joe Biden this Sunday at an event in Scranton, Pennsylvania, according to Obama Pennsylvania spokesperson Sean Smith.

Polls have been showing Obama-Biden starting to pull away in the Pennsylvania -- and that's before any appearance by the Clintons in the state.

The Clintons will hammer away at economic themes in their speeches at the Sunday rally, and they are likely to play up the roots in the Scranton area that both Hillary and Biden share. Further details will be announced later in the week.

a good point (0.00 / 0)
watching historians on pbs talk about this election and the debate. kearns goodwin talked about it is a shame our politicians dont look to history to help them. it si shame mccain and obama dont study fdr. i agree sadly. as a hsitorian it pains me. history teaches so much and can help leaders. leaders must study leaders to be greats.

All I can say is (0.00 / 0)
"God help us all".

This time round it's a gamble all the way, no matter how we vote or what we feel.  I even think our vote is just a commercial by-product of already-produced results.  Why? Because of 2000 and 2004, and the sophistication of voter-disenfranchisement developed into an art between then and now.

I don't, at this point, believe that our votes matter a damn.  I think we've been had.

I have no idea who will win, but I don't think that either way, our actual votes have any say in it whatsoever.  Yes, color me jaded.

Yeah, the Primary kinda proved that.

And what a teachable moment for the country (0.00 / 0)
if they used history in their answers. McCain knows a lot of military history. Obama - sorry, but I noticed this in the primaries - he almost never talks about history, and when he does, he gets it wrong. He doesn't know a lot of history. Wish we could give them a pop quiz.

I agree. They both copied Hillary's homework again. Her imprint is inescapable.
