PUMAs Pounce On Clinton's Campaign Debt [Updated 3x]

by: grlpatriot

Fri Jul 11, 2008 at 16:36:31 PM EDT

( - promoted by campskunk)

The netroots July 4th fundraiser to help Hillary Clinton retire campaign debt has been a huge success. Just Say No Deal coalition spokesperson, Will Bowers Bower, announced in an interview yesterday on FOX News that fund raising estimates ranged from a conservative $6 million to as much as $10 million within one week. Will also stated that the coalition has grown to 2.5 million members with over 230 blogs and websites. That's impressive for a coalition that formed just 23 days ago. Hear what Will has to say:

grlpatriot :: PUMAs Pounce On Clinton's Campaign Debt [Updated 3x]
Yesterday, the coalition kicked off a 48 hour fund raising push to dump the "Star" bucks and donate to Hillary instead. Let's do it. Skip another latte, dig deep into your pockets and pocketbooks, and drop some cash on Hillary. For those of you who can afford a bit more, check out this new winning tee from Clinton's Project T-shirt contest.

shirt

The new, limited edition "This One Is For You" T-shirts are $50 with proceeds going to help retire Hillary's campaign debt. Get your T-shirts while supplies last. You can buy the T-shirt from Hillary's website. Give it up for Hillary just one more time. All it takes is another $5, $10, or even $50 to free Hillary from the DNC and campaign debt.

Crossposted at Red Hot & Blue Politics.

UPDATE 1: Let's add Hillbuzz to the Hillary-thon and have some fun. Hillbuzz devised a clever little carnival to raise money for Hillary. Check out the pics on the site. I am especially fond of Nancy's.

Donate  $5.00 = Harry Reid gets a big kick in his farty pants!
Donate $10.00 = Donna Brazile gets dunked in the tank!
Donate $15.00 = Nancy Pelosi gets a makeover!
Donate $20.00 = Howard Dean gets screamed at!
Donate $100.00 = Obama gets a great big, red, white and blue Belgian waffle...right in his face!

UPDATE 2: On Friday, we raised a total of $623.52 in this post, which includes $300 in t-shirt sales. Thank you to everyone who has donated to Hillary's campaign. A special thank you to the following people who donated again on Friday:

$125 Campskunk $75 + 1 t-shirt
$100 pan230 2 t-shirts
$75 Dave $25 + 1 t-shirt
70.08 Notyoursweetie $20.08 + 1 t-shirt
$50 Coyote Creek
$50 Lt. Ripley
$50 Ciardha
$50 pagerd 1 t-shirt
$25 grlpatriot
$13.44 LSekhmet
$10 jen
$5  ProudMilitaryMom

UPDATE 3: For clarification, I use the term "PUMA" in a broad sense as a description, not a group. I believe that any Democrat not supporting Obama as the nominee of the Democrat party is a PUMA. I was crediting the whole coalition, not a single "PUMA" group. I want to thank StandsOnPrinciple for his/her comment below, providing some background on the July 4th/$20.08 "Independence Day" Retire the Debt initiative that JSND promoted. I want to credit Paula Abeles' group and GeekLove for their efforts on behalf of the coalition. It is also important to note that other groups across the pro-Hillarysphere had their own debt drives as well, even though it was the July 4th/$20.08 drive that JSND chose to promote.

...in debt, hillary has to kiss the ring. out of debt, our girl ain't kissing nothing.

retiring this debt will give hillary leverage in the negotiations currently underway with the DNC/Obama entity, and hurry, because these negotiations are rapidly concluding as plans for the convention are finalized. riverdaughter said 7/15 - that's tuesday.

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

I may just have to donate a third time in a week.

I "hope" that there is still time for HRC to RISE!!!

Wooohoooo! Go Will Go! And go PUMAs! (0.00 / 0)
Although the Fox "journalist" made me laugh. She doesn't have $100 million, that was how much she and Bill made together over 10 years! Also, Mitt Romney and Steve Forbes? Please. Isn't Forbes a billionaire? And Romney is super-de-duper rich. Both have a lot more money than the Clintons.

Skip another latte (0.00 / 0)
mocha frappuccino (no whip), blueberry muffin (or two) and give a buck back to Hill.  I am so excited that efforts to retire Hillary's debt have been so successful.  Support for her is definitely coalescing and producing  $$$ results  where it counts.

Will Bowers, announced in an interview yesterday on FOX News that fund raising estimates ranged from a conservative $6 million to as much as $10 million within one week.

These numbers show that with everyone and their friends and family chipping in as little as $5, we can retire her debt and leverage her for the Denver Convention in August.  Hillary stood up for us, let's stand up for her now.

Hill, this cup's for you!

We will (0.00 / 0)
be ok- food, the garden is going gangbusters now- I will be canning soon- and picking wild black raspberries to make into jam and freeze for pies and the blackberries are looking like a bumper crop this year (wild too- lots of people try to eradicate them- not me- yum yum! and $6 a pint at the store) Shelter- mortgage gets paid before anything else.
We are determined to hold onto this little bit of land we have- gut feeling we may be feeding a LOT of people SOON. I even planted potatoes this year- I expect the price of all groceries to go through the roof with the cost of gas and all the floods.

As my Mom always says- no matter how bad it is- somebody has it worse. So count my blessings- and you folks here are a blessing every day!

Thanks for the good thoughts!

keep holding on. I'll have you in my prayers. And the 5.00 you gave is a blessing.

In these times, I often think of my grandmother who grew up during the depression and knew how to do all the canning and freezing in the world. I would go to her house during the summers and help her put up all kinds of fruit and vegetables. I have her cookbook which I use often because the recipes are very inexpensive.

Donated $50 to Hillary :) (0.00 / 0)
I've never donated money to a candidate before this, except $2 to Jesse Jackson Sr.'s primary campaign in 1988. I've, as of today, donated $130 to Hillary, and I plan to do more on the 160th anniversary of Seneca Falls (July 19-20) It's going to be somewhere between $17.76 and $20.08 I haven't decided which one, but I'm leaning toward the later one.

Thanks, Ciardha every donation helps. Thanks for the reminder about the 160th anniversary of Seneca Falls. Looks like there is going to be a rally in Seneca Falls, NY on July 19 to honor Hillary.

What else do I need? There are famines and floods, fires and earthquakes, wars and terrorists, Tsunamis, hurricanes-so what's a little bankruptcy? I have my family, here in RL and HERE on the web- I can not ask for more when so many have so much less.

Special Thanks to All Retire the Debt Organizers (0.00 / 0)
I would like to take a moment to thank Paula Abeles and her tireless network of volunteers for their work in planning and promoting the Independence Day "Retire the Debt" initiative. Even though I'm a PUMA, I'm also on Paula's mailing list and know that she and her group were the first to introduce the idea that got the ball rolling on the July 4th idea.

On June 22nd, Paula asked Diane at the JSND coalition, if the "Independence (from BO) Day" could be addressed on a conference call, and then asked "GeekLove" (of "Hillary Clinton: Mad As Hell/Bitch" video fame) to make a video (adding the .08 was GeekLove's idea). On June 23rd, Paulie sent a message to her entire network (including me) and asked them to disseminate this information. On June 27th, she reminded all the major Web sites, blogs, and networks and asked them to please to run a banner supporting and promoting the idea.

In all the excitement over this initiative, it seems that this group of volunteers was overshadowed by the PUMAs. They deserve credit for their part in creating the idea and helping to make it a success. I'd also like to thank everyone in the JSND coalition and the PUMAs for their hard work in getting our message out and organizing a concerted effort to retire Hillary's debt.

Retire the Debt Organizers (0.00 / 0)
StandOnPrinciple, thanks for the background info on the Independence Day concept and video. I appreciate that. I am verifying the info you provided and will update the post to credit Abeles' group and GeekLove with their efforts on behalf of the coalition.

FYI, I use the term "PUMA" in a broad sense as a description, not a group. I believe that any Democrat not supporting Obama as the nominee of the Democrat party is a PUMA. I was crediting the whole coalition, not a single "PUMA" group. I'm actually not a member of any PUMA groups, but I consider myself to be a PUMA. It is also important to note that many people on forums and boards across the pro-Hillarysphere were discussing July 4th as a great day for fund raising. The JSND promotion of the Abeles-GeekLove concept and video helped it to coalesce and go viral.
