Have Ya Noticed? BHO's Fundraising is Drying Up

by: Alegre

Thu Jul 17, 2008 at 01:00:45 AM EDT

UPDATE:  Well it looks like they actually pulled a rabbit out of a hat and met expectations (sort of).  Reported fudraising for June is closer to $52 million.  Stay tuned...

I found a comment over on the Rotten Tomato, after someone posted a link to our article on those 8 super delegates.  Interesting stuff  seems the guy's father is a big RNC donor and is very plugged into gooper thinking on our partys selection process.

LINK

He told me the other day that the Republican party's funds allocation committee (the committee that assesses all of the candidate's chances for election on a state by state, county by county basis) has predicted that McCain will win!

Now this allocation committee has a mighty fine track record of picking the winner in any give race.  Bill over Bush 1, a tossup between Gore and Jr., recent House races yielding a 5 to 8 seat loss for them.

some of the DNC is running scared about Obama. Despite Obama's big early fund raising, his reserves are now below McCain's and his fundraising has dropped from 50 million a month to 20 million a month. He also suggested that Hillary is not dead yet.

They know BHO will be easy to beat and would love to run against him, but theyre also not stupid and know Hillarys still got a shot at this thing.

Make the jump for more...

Now they also know BHOs weak spots / chinks in his armor (radical and (some might say) racist associations) and will pound away at those mercilessly come the GE.  Wrights rants and Ayers past with the Weathermen will not go over big with a lot of voters.

They have tested the Ayres and Rev Wright ads in several key markets and the ads have been extremely effective. Expect a big rollout of Rev Wright speeches and Weatherman bombing pictures in the battleground states starting in mid-September.

Remember when BHO was raising all that money during primary season?  He raked in some $287 million and predicted that once the primaries were done and he declared himself the winner, people would unite behind him and June would bring in another $100 million.

Not so fast.  Were hearing now its more like $20  maybe $25 million for June.

Seems hes not bringing in the big bucks and hes trying to blame everything on Hillarys debt (among other things).   So how does he explain May?

I was talking with some friends tonight and they mentioned something that hadnt occurred to me  and that post from the Rotten Tomato brings it all together for me.

The Republicans out there knew BHO was the weakest candidate by far when it comes to an opponent for the General Election right?  He even played up on that when he courted their votes in the open caucuses and primaries.  We all saw those flyers

Keep Hillary from becoming President.  Become a Democrat for a day and vote for Obama in Nevadas caucus.

So if hes courting their vote and theyre giving it, doesnt it make sense to think maybe a good chunk of that money he raised came from them as well?  Wouldnt they want to help him beat the stronger candidate by donating to his campaign so he could buy ad time, clobber her with on-the-ground staff etc?

Do ya think maybe now that hes declared victory and (according to his crowd anyway) knocked her out of the ring, they stopped donating?

Could that be a big reason hes in such trouble with his fundraising efforts?

Food for thought folks.

Oh and one other reason hes having trouble?

I hear hes gone and filed lawsuit against some of Hillarys bundlers  not the ones riding the unity pony of course, but those who are holding out like we are.  Something about their not following the RULZ in how they gathered that money from us for Hillary.

(Of course it was only the holdouts who failed to follow the RULZ right?  Those who got on board did everything perfectly and are to be congratulated for their medticulous attention to detail pffft!).

More of that Chicago smack-down folks.

So ya wont get on board eh?  Wanna play rough eh?  Try this on for size, POW!

Of course, the smack-down isnt working on them.  They know hes got nothin  just like the rest of his campaign.

I wouldnt count on their help (or mine) in raising money from here on out boys.  Weve seen the way you treat folks and we dont want any part of it thank-you-very-much!

Filed a lawsuit against Hillary bundlers!?!? (0.00 / 0)
That is huge if true. Oh please we want to hear more about this!!

Wow this is juicy stuff:

some of the DNC is running scared about Obama. Despite Obama's big early fund raising, his reserves are now below McCain's and his fundraising has dropped from 50 million a month to 20 million a month. He also suggested that Hillary is not dead yet.

Even Donna Brazille is acknowledging that Obama's campaign is not yet running on all four cylinders.

Remember how he bragged about "Obamacans?" (0.00 / 0)
Maybe he thought those Republicans who were donating to his campaign planned to vote for him too.

Yeah that's right - he was talking about bring everyone together blah blah blah.

Too bad he ripped our party apart in the process with all his Chicago smack-down BS.

well, the problem is... (0.00 / 0)
...the obama people instructed the voter registration workers to give them two party preference forms - one to change their registration to democrat for the primary, and one to change it back to republican for the general election.

oops.

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

The Answer: GOP (0.00 / 0)
When the sacrificial lamb was put over the top by the DNC, they pulled the rug out. Those donor lists don't look so valuable now, do they?

Donor Lists (0.00 / 0)
The only donor lists that look viable and valuable to Obama right now are Hillary's donor list.

Remember how we got daily updates before? (0.00 / 0)
Sometimes hourly, bragging about how much money he was bringing in.

No numbers for June yet.

It must be really bad.

He raised 50 mio instead of 100 mio

It has alway been evident to me that the GOP did not want to run against Hillary and worked to help the weaker candidate win. The DNC and the Good Ole Boys wanted the most pliable candidate and Obama fit the bill. They worked in tandem to push and force the best candidate for President out of the race. Now we are screwed.

If Obama wins the Presidency (and I think the chances are slim) he will be a one termer and the entire countries ails will blamed on the Democrats and we will have Republican rule for the next 3 to 4 Presidential elections after and a quick return to a Republican controlled Congress.

Obama is running 7 or 8 points ahead of McCain at present and considering our democratic candidate should be miles ahead of the republican candidate following the last 8 years. This is a VERY weak 'lead'.  This was ours to lose and we got bamboozeled into the ONE person who could never compete and the one the GOP will bury as soon as the convention is over if he is the nominee. They are laying low now because Hillary only suspended her race and they know she is a threat still.

Obama has been doing a pretty good job of stumbling and bungling without actually being involved in a competition with McCain. Our only hope for any change is Hillary becomes our nominee- or McCain wins and becomes the one termer President and we save our parties chances of being in the competition 2012,2016 and beyond.

about "the making it" and perceptions game.

They're playing perception games (5.00 / 4) (#5)

The original goal for June was $100 million. Then, when it became clear they weren't going to pull in anywhere near that, word on a haul of only $30 million got leaked. That deflated expectations, so now, when the actual take of $52 million is released, people will have been led to think they're doing better than expected.
The Bush Administration plays this sort of game with economic numbers all the time. Underestimate, and then beat the underestimation.

$52 million is certainly nothing to sneeze at, but the Obama campaign only managed a little better than half their fundraising goals. If I overestimate the expected income from my business by that kind of margin, I'm going to have all sorts of problems, because expenditures and financial commitments are often based on these projections. And if you're operating in a small, fixed time window like the Obama campaign, the problems are going to be compounded, because they're setting up operations based on those projections, there's not the anticipated money for follow-through, and you're consequently going to spread yourself way too thin. There's little breathing room for reevaluation and retrenchment.

All this highlights another advantage of taking public financing--you have a very strict budget, and you aren't going to make decisions based on fantasies of how much money you're going to have. Obama's people seem to think they can revive the Obamamania of January and February. I don't think they can, and this hubris could ultimately cause their downfall. If McCain weren't such a lame opponent, I'd say it'd definitely bring them down.

Nah. His funding will never dry up completely. (0.00 / 0)
All of those cloned bots on DK will see him through by giving up their video rental money and latte funds at least one day a week.

I was a little shocked at the 52 million he got last month. Someone is still giving, and he had the nerve to drag Hillary around with him to beg for money.  She is a fool for doing it, although a lovable fool.  I would have to say screw the rest of my political career, I am not giving Obama a second more of my time.

BHO fundraising - easy explanation (0.00 / 0)
1. I'm not a troll
2. I've contributed monthly to Hillary since Feb.
3. I will NOT be voting for BHO.

However, and the preface is necessary because I've learned that Hillary's sites are becoming as hostile to alternative opinions as BHO's:

The decrease in BHO's monthly primary intake has a simple explanation: the perception that he was winning.

At the end of Feb., that disastrous and ultimately decisive month for Hillary, BHO was widely declared to be the mathematical winner.  Potential donors, therefore, did not feel the same need to contribute as Hillary's.  With each successive month, the drum roll for BHO increased, and so, logically, did the contributions decrease - on top of which, of course, was the endless coverage of his huge campaign contribution machine.  Again, esp. if you're a small donor, there doesn't seem to be much point in contributing to a winning candidate with enormous, full pockets.

If BHO did raise over 50 million in June, the first month of the GE, he raised more even than he did in Feb. which would sort of confirm my thesis.
===================================================
I am utterly sympathetic to your goals, to PUMA, etc., and I truly, truly, truly wish the Nov. election were not going to be this horrible choice between two Republicans, one incompetent and the other possibly senile (how McCain could have spent so many years in the Senate and still know so little about some key issues is appalling - but that's yet another bit of new news we owe to our incompetent media).

But we Hillary supporters do ourselves a great disservice when, to make ourselves feel better, we invent or misinterpret things.

soooo... (0.00 / 0)
...how many pro-hillary sites have you been thrown off of?

just curious ;-)
