Palin: My whining is valid. Hillary's wasn't

by: Alegre

I swear Sarah Palin is one of her own worst enemies...

A few days ago we were reminded of Palin's criticism of Hillary for her perceived whining about her unfair treatment over the years.  Since that story broke, a reporter with Time had the chance to ask Palin about that comment, and Palin said this...

What I said was, it doesn't do her or anybody else any good to whine about the criticism. And that's why I'm trying to make it clear that the criticism, I invite that. But freedom of speech and that invitation to constructively criticize a public servant is a lot different than the allowance to lie, to continually falsely accuse a public servant when they have proven over and over again that they have not done what the accuser is saying they did. It doesn't cost them a dime to continue to accuse. That's a whole different situation. But that's why when I talk about the political potshots that I take or my family takes, we can handle that. I can handle that. I expect it. But there has to be opportunity provided for truth to get out there, and truth isn't getting out there when the political game that's being played right now is going to continue, and it is.

So Hillary shouldn't have tried to beat back the lies about Vince Foster's "murder", or Whitewater, or TravelGate or any of the other attacks that went on - relentlessly for 15 years then?  Maybe she should have ignored all of this then too...?

Oh wait - she pretty much has.  I defy Palin or anyone else to show me footage of Hillary "whining" about any of this.  She's withstood more - put up with more BS over her lifetime than Palin could ever imagine.  For her to come in here less than a year after hitting the national scene and tell us that her suffering is more valid and worthy of comment than anything Hillary's ever been subjected to... it's beyond offensive.

Palin needs to stop talking about this - now.

I don't consider it whining when we stand up to sexist attacks on either of them.  Sexism and the tolerance of it in our society is what leads to abuse, rape, murder, molestation, pay gaps, sexual harassment on the job... We stand up to it no matter who the target or victim is.  Period.

The trouble is that some people purposely blur the line between (0.00 / 0)
sexism and criticism, and call any criticism of Palin as sexism. They see sexism in any criticism of a woman politician. That is a false meme, and it is dangerous to female politicians in general. Women can't be seen as being fragile and untouchable. That doesn't mean we can't identify real sexism when we see it.

No, No, don't go there, Alegre! (0.00 / 0)
For one thing, Palin had no real concept of what she was getting into when she made her previous comments.  But now she does.  Experience is a great teacher.  And she's been enlightened and she's absolutely right.  The truth is getting secondary billing in this situation.  Everything she says or does is twisted for ulterior motives and bad behavior.  It was wrong when it happened to Hillary and it is wrong now.  She's right that it doesn't help to whine about it.  She's wrong if she says Hillary ever whined.  It's not a matter of toughness.  It's about the hyperbole reaching such a level and the nuisance investigations and lawsuits getting so out of hand that she is incapable of doing her job without costing her state millions of dollars in time and legal fees.  Her situation is closer to Bill Clinton's than Hillary's.  At the worst of the "Hillary is a congenital liar" period, Hillary wasn't an elected official who was tasked with running an executive office.  Yes, we all know what Hillary did and we know that she pushed the boundaries of her role as first lady and all of the other good stuff.  But the fact is that as annoying as the Rose Law firm billing records federal case was and how unfair it was for her, it was Bill's constant lawsuits that we were taking time away from his ability to run the WH.  Who knows what might decisions he might have made differently if he wasn't always being hauled into his lawyers office to give depositions and faced a hostile press that cynically questioned everything he did.  The country suffered because of that, I have no doubt of it.
So, it is the same with Sarah and Alaska.  She is being consumed by these charges all day, every day.  And just like the Clintons, there will probably be no there there. But it won't matter.  Her last year in office will be a waste of everyone's time and money.  Much better to leave office and turn on the media that is doing this to her and Hillary and any other self-made woman.
I don't want her as my president but when she tells it like it is and puts the media in its place, I'm inclined to cheer her on.  Sic'em Sarah!

She's pushing a double standard (0.00 / 0)
with this latest interview.

I know it *seems* that way ... (0.00 / 0)
But I ger the distinct impression that she understands very well what happened to Bill and Hillary. For the moment, I'd put that aside because right at this moment in time, Sarah is the one who has the opportunity to fight the media monster. Hillary doesn't have that luxury as Head Diplomat.
During campaigns, people say a lot of things they regret later. In Sarah's case, she praised Hillary much more than critcized her. The whine comment has come back to haunt her karmically and how. Just don't tell her to shut up now that she has a chance to expose the media. She could be doing us all a big favor, even if she is a Republican. If she is willing to stand up to them to take them on, I am willing to forgive a lot.

She's still claiming Hillary whined (0.00 / 0)
which we all know is a lie.  I cannot forgive her for that.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one RD.  The more I hear from Palin where Hillary's concerned - the less I like her.

Political party difference (0.00 / 0)
This is not about sexism behind lies against Palin and Clinton. This is about party difference. Palin believes they weren't lies against Clinton because she's a Republican.

But sexism is why both leftist and conservative men lie about Palin and Clinton-and Bill Clinton as a proxy-in the first place.

who's whining now (0.00 / 0)
If Hillary had become president the press would  be shredding her constantly. In a way I'm glad I don't have to see that. And yeah, the repugs and other clinton-haters would not let Bill do his job, and thanks to them we got 9/11.

9/11 (0.00 / 0)
You're right on re that point.  I finally got the chance to finish reading Hillary's book Living History and she made it pretty clear that the pugs blocked him at every turn when he tried to draw attention to the danger bin Laden posed.  The GOP were so wrapped up in their efforts to cricify Bill - they ignored what was going on.

Because of their sick obsession and vendetta, over 3,000 innocent people were killed.  Absolutely disgusting.
