Team Obama 'Dancing in the End Zone'?

by: grlpatriot

Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 20:05:39 PM EDT

Obama & Co. has assembled a White House transition team. According to Marc Ambinder's piece today, John Podesta was contacted regarding the transition last month (that would be June, folks) and will probably head Obama's transition team.

Brain Rogers, a McCain campaign spokesperson, fired this statement off this afternoon:

Before they've even crossed the 50-yard line the Obama campaign is already dancing in the end zone with a new White House transition team. The American people are more concerned with Barack Obama's poor judgment and readiness to lead than his inaugural ball.

Hmmmm, yeah, I say that's about right. Well, Media Matters already has their panties in a wad over how this statement was reported on MSNBC. Their answer -- well Bush did it too. (How rich is that!)

More and video over the flip...

grlpatriot :: Team Obama 'Dancing in the End Zone'?

The CW is that this is a bit early for a presumptive party nominee to put together a White House transition team. In Obama's case, it feeds the "arrogance" narrative, especially in light of the faux presidential seal and most recently this week his overseas trip, Germany speech, and his advisors referring to him as the president and already in the White House.

faux presidential seal"[Berlin] is not going to be a political speech," said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. "When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally."

"But he is not president of the United States," a reporter reminded the adviser.

[snip]
Obama aides were reminded by reporters--for the second time today--that he isn't in the White House yet, and therefore they can't invoke White House rules and traditions.

An unpaid foreign policy adviser (who worked for Clinton) told reporters that he never in his four years in the White House had go on the record for a briefing. Several reporters retorted that they weren't in the White House.

Fade out, Berlin. Beautiful stage craft and poised candidate travel to Paris, then London with the press in tow. Is this enough to make him our leading man? So far the polls and PUMAs say No Deal!

Visiting the troops is inappropriate (0.00 / 0)
since it's a campaign trip, Obama campaign decided to skip it, AP reports.

Why would it be inappropriate? (0.00 / 0)
The troops can vote, right? They are American citizens, unlike the people Obama has spent the trip trying to impress. The troops would get him more votes than the German Chancellor. He goes around acting like he is already President and then declines to visit wounded troops? This isn't going to play in Peoria. I have noticed in the last couple of days a definite change in tone in the news reports and news blogs. They are losing that adoring posture and starting to take a look at the One. They don't like what they see, apparently. Dissing the troops, wounded troops, isn't going to help.

My it was inappropriate b/c his campaign was paying (0.00 / 0)
for this leg of the trip. And his campaign couldn't bring media in:
*** UPDATE *** From NBC's Jim Miklaszewski and Courtney Kube

A U.S. military official tells NBC News they were making preparations for Sen. Barack Obama to visit wounded troops at the Landstuhl Medical Center at Ramstein, Germany on Friday, but "for some reason the visit was called off."

One military official who was working on the Obama visit said because political candidates are prohibited from using military installations as campaign backdrops, Obama's representatives were told, "he could only bring two or three of his Senate staff member, no campaign officials or workers." In addition, "Obama could not bring any media. Only military photographers would be permitted to record Obama's visit."

The official said "We didn't know why" the request to visit the wounded troops was withdrawn. "He (Obama) was more than welcome. We were all ready for him."

If Obama visits the vets, and the media isn't there, did it really happen?

Oh, my, well if Bush did it... (0.00 / 0)
Honestly, what does that even mean?

Medicare for All is Civil Rights

How unflattering (0.00 / 0)
to have your behavior compared to Bush and explained away by a liberal media organization. This is becoming a reoccurring activity for the Obama apologists.

This is our moment, apparently (0.00 / 0)
not sure what he means by that other than because he's arrived, it's time for the earth to begin.

Apparently, he recycles (0.00 / 0)
pieces of his speeches. He has already used the "this is our moment line" during the primaries. It's his moment to grandstand. Can you imagine a candidate losing an election because they wanted to be president too much. Obama's lesson in all this will is -- be careful what you covet.

I hope I don't have to imagine it.. (0.00 / 0)
I hope it happens. And that he goes back to Illinois and stays there. If they will have him.

Not only do I hope (0.00 / 0)
he loses, I hope that he loses his senate seat. He deserves that big of a spanking for being too big for his britches.

5 years from now, People mag: where are they now? (0.00 / 0)
There on the cover are the Obamas with more gray in their hair.

he has more grey hair now (0.00 / 0)
what's with that, did he paint his ceiling? Did he stop dying his hair? Ronnie kept dying his hair.

oh, Illinois (0.00 / 0)
can elect him to the senate all they want.  He'll have to work, and that will be good for his immortal soul.  I'd dislike anyone the party put up to defeat Hillary, he's just their chump, the one they hope will either lose and not make them support any presidential initiatives, or he'll win and let them be in charge. He probably would, he seems passive enough to let Nancy take over, and his pals from Illinois.  Reagan was known as the campaigning president and Barack says he's like Reagan.  Also, Reagan was never personally blamed for his disasters, everyone knew he was being run, a nice guy being run.  That's what we want?  We want Ronnie?  Well, one thing I can say about Ronnie is he wasn't as bad as Bush.  At least that's something?

No one is as bad as bush / except the scary one (0.00 / 0)
Reagan isn't as bad as BUSH, because he was the BEGINNING of our present nightmare.

They had him on TV for five days, I wanted to puke---the GOP became the most powerful entity in this world, and that's why they honored him for 5 days,

WHAT ACCOMPLISHMENTS??

The GOP used to own the MEDIA, I don't think so, somone else alot more powerful is pulling MSNBC and CNN's strings.
