President Clinton to Skip Arkansas Free Clinic, Blames Keith Olbermann for politicizing the event

by: Amy Dugan

Fri Nov 20, 2009 at 21:21:55 PM EST

( - promoted by Pacific John)

Clinton responded that Olbermann was politicizing the clinic, and that it wasn't helpful for Olbermann to do that. He said he did not feel he could show up now, because the event had turned political.

Eve said that Halter had been very helpful, and that the event was not political. She said that Halter's intercession had been key in getting the Convention center to give the clinics space.

Clinton replied that the event was becoming political, and that it was clear what was happening: a primary of Blanche Lincoln.

or are the majority of the commentors at FDL incredibly stupid young people?  They seem to only know GOP talking points about Bill Clinton.

LOL (0.00 / 0)
so sad. The left's biggest enemies are now: George W. Bush, Sarah Palin and Bill Clinton.

Take a look @ the comments at FDL (4.00 / 2)
Unreal... they must have the combined IQ of a 12 year old if the first few comments are any indication of the regulars on that site.

The same old nasty comments about Bill being a corporatist shill too busy to care about health care.  Those whankers go after Bill over health care - what a joke!  He's done so much with his foundation - saved probably hundreds of thousands of lives.  He also fought like hell to reform our own messed up system back in 1993.

Bill knows health care inside and out and doesn't need to go to a clinic to show he cares about this stuff.

As for his refusal to get in the middle of what sounds like a rally for Lincoln's possible primary opponent... FDL's commenters forget that she's a Democratic incumbant from Bill's home state and that Bill's a Democrat through and through.  He supports his party no matter what - he doesn't work to undermine someone already in office.

Bill went all out for BO in last year's general election - after BO and his minions called him a racist and attacked him with everything they had.  Bill isn't about to undermine a Democrat in office - no way.

How dare they attack Bill like this.  It's absolutely disgusting.

FYI - B. Lincoln's healthcare speech today worth watching (4.00 / 1)
she is clearly kind fo emotional, there has been a lot of pressure on her.

Mary Landrieau's was good too, that people want reform, but they also want predictable costs, so they can plan. The original draft of this bill adds a $30,000 annual tax to businesses who hire over 50 employees (who hire "their 51st employee".)

It's just a complex bill, and deserves a lot of airing and debate.
