President Obama Continues Hectic Victory Tour

by: NewHampster

Washington Post finally starts to get it and big props to bambi for making things clear.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/...

By Dana Milbank

Barack Obama has long been his party's presumptive nominee. Now he's becoming its presumptuous nominee.

Fresh from his presidential-style world tour, during which foreign leaders and American generals lined up to show him affection, Obama settled down to some presidential-style business in Washington yesterday. He ordered up a teleconference with the (current president's) Treasury secretary, granted an audience to the Pakistani prime minister and had his staff arrange for the chairman of the Federal Reserve to give him a briefing. Then, he went up to Capitol Hill to be adored by House Democrats in a presidential-style pep rally.

Along the way, he traveled in a bubble more insulating than the actual president's. Traffic was shut down for him as he zoomed about town in a long, presidential-style motorcade, while the public and most of the press were kept in the dark about his activities, which included a fundraiser at the Mayflower where donors paid $10,000 or more to have photos taken with him. His schedule for the day, announced Monday night, would have made Dick Cheney envious

The best Line.  One which really shows his true arrogance.

"This is the moment . . . that the world is waiting for," adding: "I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions."

I'd be laughing like crazy if it wasn't so sad.  Here's hoping Hillary's people haven't turned in the volunteers yet.

oh noes! dana said the "presumptuous" word!! (0.00 / 0)
that means he's racist!!!

actually, ANYTHING critical of obama is racist. it's just a matter of arbitrarily designating one of the words you used to describe him as indicative of a lingering racist streak.

is "streak" racist? probably so, by now.

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

If Obama's the symbol of the possibility of America returning (0.00 / 0)
to our best traditions? Which tradition Obama? Please answer the question Obama? which friggin' tradition, Obama??

I don't want the tradition of Lies, Cheating, Stealing, Racism, corruption, 'low class', rude, insulting misogyny, division which are the only things I've seen in Mr. Obama's campaign which represents so many other polititians running America into the ground.

God I feel sick.

maybe he means hoop skirts and bustles. (0.00 / 0)

Well it wouldn't be so bad (0.00 / 0)
but I'm old enough to remember trying to fight my way into a 60's girdle.  With permission mind you.

Neither did she (0.00 / 0)
But times dictated it I guess.  Funny how we all remember the Bra burnings but nobody mentions that the girdle was the first thing to go, and no loss.

This is me, in Second Life, riding sidesaddle through Africa. Of course, I get to sit here in shorts and a tee while my avatar wears the fun clothes..which beats actually wearing a corset by a mile and a half.

Oh it has, and Hillary has/had a presence there.. (0.00 / 0)
her campaign had an area for distributing information and virtual election stuff..also you could donate in Lindens, which I did. We should start a PUMA presence there..I have a nice garden and little house that I will offer up for a meeting place. It's next to the Avery Inn so we can go hang there too. We can do virtual meetings around the clock if we want to. Anyone up for it? If so, and you aren't a resident already, go to http://secondlife.com and sign up. It's free. Enjoy!!

Oooooooooohhhhh..just had a (0.00 / 0)
scathingly brilliant idea..!!!! How about doing a parallel dinner under the stars, which in SL can be anytime of day since you can set the time of day to midnight, in SL for a fundraiser? Perhaps Hillary's offices can do something to facilitate it since they are already there? Or we can do a series of them at my place, I have a huge inventory and can do a big party complete with interactive food. Seriously, you wear it to eat it..LOL  But it would be a good way to do a continuous fundraising effort for Hillary. Sort of expand the "dinner under the stars" to an ongoing party. I am right on the water, and can provide boats and whatnot for sailing and yachting. And there would be tons of SL freebies, I am a chair hopper, remember, for all comers to have fun with. Oh yeah, we can do some fun fundraising on SL. Oh, by the way, my SL name is Enticing Dancer. And yeah, I live up to it. Heh.

Seriously, where was the critical gaze when we really needed it?????

I've dashed this off which expresses my frustration over "uninformed, conforming voters"...many who are in this state because of the lack of serious journalism in this country!!

a dozen stories like this in major newspapers all over the country.

This is a good start, though.  The major paper in Washington, DC wields enormous influence.

Pick it up and run with it.  Of course as you say in the next post, Milbank is just a racist calling Obama uppity.

This will be used by Axelrod to increase support rather than demean it.  Stop picking on Barack you meanies.

Never Mind. (0.00 / 0)
I just figured out what is wrong with this article.  Its central theme is Obama's presumption.  It never even mentions his greatest flaw...lack of experience.

Millbank will be dismissed as another racist and his words will be forgotten tomorrow.

It's almost as if they planned it that way.  Does this give the Post cover to claim they're reporting Obama evenhandedly?  Can they now go back to polishing his crown without being labeled biased?

Fox take on the same meeting (0.00 / 0)
http://elections.foxnews.com/2...

Call him the presumptuous Democratic presidential nominee.

Barack Obama met with House Democrats in a closed-door meeting on Capitol Hill Tuesday evening where he reportedly described his recent trip to Europe at length and concluded, "this is the moment, as (House Speaker) Nancy (Pelosi) noted, that the world is waiting for."

Referencing the crowd of 200,000 who attended his speech in Berlin, the presumptive Democratic nominee , according to The Washington Post, told the standing-room only audience of Democratic House representatives, "I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions."

His confidence is no doubt bolstered by his supporters.

"There wasn't a question he didn't knock out of the park," Rep. John Larson of Connecticut told FOX News. "His speech was soaring. But also down to Earth."

"He indicated that when he stood before nearly 200,000 people in Germany...it wasn't about him. It was about Germany and Europe. And he said that he was a symbol of that hope," said House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn of South Carolina.

When he says "It's not about me" he's thinking it's about him.

He says "I'm not going to tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear." Uh-huh. Then just tell us! Enough with the preoration already.
