Open Thread: Hillary's Accomplishments

by: Alegre

Wed Jul 30, 2008 at 22:11:35 PM EDT

We talked a bit about the difficulty BHO's followers have when someone has the temerity to ask them to name even one substantive accomplishment of his.  It's amazing that after a year and a half, they still can't tell us what the guy's done to help others in his role as a public servant.

Of course it might be easier if his focus were actually on the public rather than himself, but that's another thing altogether.

I was looking through YouTube for something and came accross this wonderful video about Hillary's work over the years.

There really is no comparison here folks.  Hillary's far and away the stronger candidate when you consider who's better prepared to lead.  She's also sure to kick McCain's @ss in the general election so it really is tough to understand why the DNC and the Supers are backing the weaker candidate in this race.

Make the jump - there's more...

On another note... Sharyn asked a great question at the end of her post re Blackwater today.  She wondered why so many progressives are backing BHO and I really can't get my head around it either.

He's a wimp when it comes to defending our abortion rights.
He agrees with Scalia et al re the death penalty and gun control.
He refused to defend the Constitution and instead sided with the republicans by voting for FISA.
He attacked Hillary for her UNIVERSAL health care plan.
He's making the same noises as the goopers re social security (can privitization be far behind?)
He's backing off his promise to end the Iraq war.
He spoke out of both sides of his mouth re NAFTA.
He's promoting that faith-based garbage of Dubbya's.

Seriously - he's sounding more and more like a republican with every passing day.

Anyway this is an open thread - what's on your mind?

There are so many things.... (0.00 / 0)
like her work on Plan B, but I think that everything I love about her can be found in her Women's Rights are Human Rights speech.

It continues to boggle me that so many feminist bloggers abandoned her in the primaries; not because they didn't vote for the woman, but because they didn't vote for the feminist, the woman best placed to work towards all of those goals that they write about every day. The chance was there for them to launch a whip-smart, workhorse feminist into the most powerful position in the world... and they went with the smooth-talking carsalesman Junior Senator who hasn't even bothered to hold a meeting of the subcommittee that he chairs. It's like I'm living in the Bizarroverse.

and yet... they go for the skinny kid with no experience.

I hate to say it but sometimes we wimmin' folk can be our own worst enemy when it comes to elections.  It feels like we're back in high school again for feck sake for all the cattiness, cliques and BS.

RKMK---you are so right (0.00 / 0)
NONE of it makes sense, I've been talking with an SD (I should say debating)------for almost 3 days.

MY THEORY:  BLIND ACCEPTANCE----the only reason I can think of is:  BLIND HATRED, and it was targeted with the younger people by BO's campaign (and I'm sure the GOP's have their hand in it)

If she wins the GE, they LOSE a GREAT DEAL OF MONEY, POWER< and FOOTHOLDS, because she is a force to reckon with.

They have the control if BO wins.

That's why we have to stay fighting.

Obama v Hillary (0.00 / 0)
I have difficulty watching those videos of Hillary because I come away with such a sense of loss.  This guy has done absolutely nothing for anybody outside of himself.  He is unworthy of this job let alone the nomination.   The DNC is so corrupt and insistent upon sticking to this sham that any interest in this race has dissipated sharply.

This man is so arrogant, so indifferent, so unqualified that it is no wonder why his poll ratings are as low as they are.  After 8 yrs of Bush you would think that and Dem candidate would be able to be out front by at least 15 points but his needle remains static, not rising more than 3-4 points against McCain of all people.

I hope Obama gets the trouncing he deserves.  We do not deserve him under any circumstances.

This Should Be a SLAM DUNK for Us This Year (0.00 / 0)
You're right - after 8 years of disaster, cronyism and greed, our party should win this election in a walk.

And yet BHO hasn't even come close to sealing the deal with his own party members (US!) and if they think he's going to cruise on to victory in Nov. with all that baggage he's carrying (rezko, wright, ayers, flip-flops, no experience) then they'd better think again.

The GOP and the 527s will make mincemeat outta him.

The superdelegates know it.
The DNC knows it.
The RNC knows it.
And we know it.

So WHY is this guy still our presumptuous nominee????

This is NOT a done deal folks!  HELP US SUPERS!

If Hillary Were the Presumptive Nominee (0.00 / 0)
She'd be clobbering (clobbering!) McCain at this point given the lack-luster campaign he's been running over the past few weeks.

HEAR HEAR - Pat J (0.00 / 0)
I can't help feeling the same way.  I would have LOVED to (like) BO over McCAIN--it's just not in me, and that's because of the DNC and their "marketing" him for President.

They are GHASTLY !!!---I'll have a happy day, when they are ousted by the true DEMS in this country.

Best thing that could happen to them:  They go bankrupt.
