We're not finished folks - not by a long shot!

Updated: Hillary WILL Put Her Name Into Nomination

by: Alegre

Fri Aug 01, 2008 at 11:41:28 AM EDT

I'll stack my source up against the unnamed source of the Daily News' any day of the week and twice on Sunday...J

UPDATE!

See video of Hillary below. (pacific john)

***

The Daily News is claiming Hillary's decided to release her delegates at the convention.  They're making this stuff up guys.  Take a look at this article and you'll see that this so-called source is unnamed, and that the writer admits that spokeswoman for Hillary's team - Kathleen Strand (the only person named in this POS article) has stated that no decisions have been made at this time.   This article is nothing but innuendo and fabrication - I'm guessing it's a slow news day at the Daily News so they tossed this out to drum up some chatter.

Think about it - after all she's been through in this campaign, does anyone really think she'd leak this monumental story to a paper like the Daily News?  It's laughable!

Meanwhile we've contacted Hillary's New York office and we were told that this report is not true.  We've also got a contact who met with Hillary in San Francisco Thursday, and they told us the following...

"She talked about her name being put into nomination and she said that she wanted her voters to be heard and for her delegates to have the experience of what a real convention is.  She said that by doing this and by having a roll call that it would help unify the party."

(This has been confirmed by someone else at yesterday's event - update below the fold!)

Make the jump - there's more...

Alegre :: Updated: Hillary WILL Put Her Name Into Nomination
The Daily News is claiming that Hillary has decided not to put her name into nomination and guys - this claim is utterly and completely FALSE!  While it's true Hillary has to take an active role in getting her name into nomination at the convention later this month, it is not true that she's decided to release her delegates or back down from this fight.

Not in the least.

Think about it - she suspended her campaign on June 7th and since then dozens of PUMA type groups have sprung up all over the country.  These groups represent hundreds of thousands of people who say they will not - under any circumstances - vote for BHO in the general election.  Some have even stated they'll support McCain (I'm not in that camp btw).  Polls show that nearly a quarter of her supporters fall into this second category and that many more will simply skip the presidential election come Nov. 4th if Hillary's not on the ballot.

We're talking about over 30% of her 18 million supporters guys.  Without our support BHO will NOT go on to beat McCain on Nov. 4th. Ok he won't beat McCain anyway but the bottom line here is that he needs us and the only way any of us would even consider voting for the guy is for him to hold a fair and open vote at the convention.  That ballot has got to give the delegates a choice between him and Hillary.

Hillary could have said something right?

But she hasn't - has she?

She's still in this fight because she knows it's not about her - it's about us and our right to be heard at our convention.  We're 18 million-strong and we deserve an honest and open vote. Without it, whoever comes out on top won't be legitimate in the eyes of millions of us so when you get right down to it - Hillary's right in saying this vote would help unify the party!  No matter the results, our nominee will have faced the delegates in a fair contest (ok nearly fair given all that's happened so far) and can face McCain knowing they earned the right to move on to the general election as our nominee.

Those who are trying to pressure her to allow a ballot with only BHO's name on it are afraid of a fair vote and they have absolutely no business calling themselves Democrats dammit. They're nothing more than corrupt cowards.

FIGHT ON HILLARY!

UPDATE

Someone over at the Confluence left the following comment regarding that event in San Francisco yesterday.  They were there - check it out...

Originally it was labeled an event to help pay down her debt but some how it morphed into a unity event. Hell, there were about 10 Pumas that I know for sure but I'm sure there were more. Afterwards we all stood around and told each other our pen names.

She said that she thinks it would help unify the party if her name was put into nomination and that she wants her supporters and delegates to be recognized and heard.

They say they've got video and will put that up onto the net tomorrow - stay tuned!

UPDATE:

Here is Hillary at yesterday's event:

Thank you Alegre! (0.00 / 0)
Was wondering about this, but wouldn't believe the rumors until it came from Hillary herself. They pulled this in the primary, and stupid reporters bought it. "According to the Obama campaign, Hillary is going to drop out." Uh, no.

I posted news ad MyDD (0.00 / 0)
linking to this diary. If anybody could just do a quick rec, that would be great.

They've got a diary up now saying she doesn't want her name in nomination.

Hillary Raised a Great Point in This Video (0.00 / 0)
She said she's jumped in and started campaigning for her opponent a lot faster than candidates have in years past.

What about this year?

Where are the other boys in this contest? I don't hear anyone screaming for Dodd to get out there and hit the campaign trail for BHO.

Or Biden.

What about Edwards - where's he been lately after that big show of support right before the last primaries?

Richardson's at least helping to retire some of Hillary's debate and I'm sure is doing what he can for the party.

I'm guessing he's still holding out hope for the VP slot but I'm sorry zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Alegre, these stories are never about slow news days (0.00 / 0)
What they're about is bringing about the change they're pre-reporting. This happened throughout the campaign with the likes of Nedra Pickler. In this case, watch for Hillary or her surrogates to be "confronted" in the media over why she won't release her delegates. They will cite this article, I'd put $10 down on it if this were a horse race.

All you have to do generally to check these kinds of things out is goggle the writer's names. DeFrank, for instance, has a long record of Hillary-hate, and Saul is brand new on the national scene, making him a prime target for Obama conversion. He may have already been an Obama fan. Anyway...

This is so weird.... (0.00 / 0)
I fell back asleep this morning and I had a dream that Hillary held a brief press conference.  She said "I am putting my name in nomination because that is what my supporters expect of me, and that's what conventions are for."

I'm not sure how it's not already over.... (0.00 / 0)
All the elected delegates have been assigned, or mostly so. The only way Hillary can win the nomination at this point is for Sen. Obama to either withdraw or for the superdelegates to change their vote. Either way, both seem like pretty fantasic probabilities to me :(

People who voted for her want their votes represented (0.00 / 0)
and not thrown away or given to Obama.  It isn't necessarily about winning at this point, it's about being heard, respected and taken seriously.

Ignored fraud in caucuses.
Silence in response to repeated and sexist attacks on Hillary.
Constant calls by party "leaders" for her to drop out.
BHO saying an honest vote was "still under negotiation".

Wake up man.  They're trying to figure out how to f#uk us over yet again by keeping her off the ballot.  For feck sake that's been BHOs MO since he first ran for office!

Thanks for the post Alegre, (0.00 / 0)
It's been a depressing few hours since reading about the alleged keynote address and automatic implication that HIllary released delegates and all that other nonsense. As the posters upthread suggest, this might be 'managing events' through a management of news reporting process istself. I certainly remember that lady Nedra of AP and all her so-called news stories.

I haven't seen it before.  Maybe that was a trial balloon put out by someone in the DNC or connected with her in some way.  I don't imagine the reaction to her not putting her name into nomination was very good.  She would disappoint a lot of people who have supported her all the way.

Hillary received more votes than any primary candidate in the history of either party.

Let me remind everyone that candidates with far fewer votes (all of them men by the way, not that there's anything wrong with that) got their names to be put in nomination and they had a proper roll call.

Hillary's name must be put in nomination.  Not doing so will be a disrecpect to millions of voters who voted for her, and to the democratic process itself. It will require disregard of the nomination rules of the democratic party.  And, it will be a complete disrespect to all women when, in the closest election in democratic history, a woman candidate with 18 million votes can't even have her name on the ballot, because it just may make the men feel uncomfortable.

So many things is wrong with this.  It boggles my mind.

By the way, Andrea Mitchell, since tomorrow you are going to come out and smear Hillary, call her selfish, saying that she is undercutting Obama, and all other kinds of garbage, here's my message to you:

Kindly, feck off.

Thanks so much for the video (0.00 / 0)
Just hearing her again was so nice. Got me all choked up. I miss her so much.

Great News! (0.00 / 0)
Golly geepers, willy weepers! I've been pouting all morning, trying to come to some sort of realizatoin that she was giving up the goose and that all our efforts may be for not, when I stumble across this!  I swear, I am going to need major therapy after this election season is over.  This is better than betting on any horse race and far, far more exciting.  But I'm just not sure how much more my stomach or my heart can take. LOL

Thanks Alegre, for sharing this. Good golly we need her name in nomination and we need the Party to just do the right thing! We need Senator Clinton!

Rumors (0.00 / 0)
Hillary, I believe, would hold a press conference to give such information rather than  convey it on a silly rag!  Wouldn't this kind of information be worthy of the NYT or the WP at least?

You can tell by this latest rumor (initiated, I believe, by Obama's media surrogates) that the Obama campaign is getting really nervous since his poll numbers seem to be plummeting as a result of McCain's great week of Ads ridiculing Obama's God-complex and celebrity.  Also, BO tried to use the race card yet again--but this time it didn't work as well as it did against Clinton.  At least the media is examining the race card issue, rather than carrying BO's water on this matter.

verify the context? (0.00 / 0)
I hope your contacts can get a video and transcript of the whole context of HIllary's statement, and/or statements signed by others present as to what the context was, what question she was replying to and what the earlier discussion had been.

Taylor Marsh is parsing the video as not meaning what your contact said it meant. It's at her Hot Topics box.

TM is just wrong. No parsing needed. She clearly says (0.00 / 0)
she thinks her name should be put to nomination, that it will be cathartic, and that despite what Howard Dean argued, it isn't just up to her.  Ultimately, it's up to the pledged delegates.  Now she does say that there will be agreement and basically he'll still end up the nom(which I take to mean she doesn't anticipate the SDs to pull for her).  But with all due respect to TM, what the hell else would she say?  Yeah, let's have a floor fight, best man or woman wins...if she did that, there would be no way in hell it would happen.
