From an article on Yahoo...
"If everything is so good for Barack Obama, why isn't everything so good for Barack Obama?"
Nice to see the press are finally starting to cop on to what we've been saying here on the blogs for weeks / months now. BHO's hit a ceiling folks. The polling numbers have stalled and in a year when he should win this thing against the republicans in a walk, he's struggling and has yet to break the 50% threshold. Gee... I wonder why that is.
Couldn't have anything to do with his constant attacks on the Clintons and their supporters, or the fact that millions of Hillary's voters are saying they either won't vote in Nov. or they're backing McCain if BHO's our nominee - could it?

In the two months since Barack Obama captured the Democratic nomination, he has hit a ceiling in public opinion polling, proving unable to make significant gains with any segment of the national electorate.
While Obama still leads in most matchups with John McCain, the Illinois senator's apparent stall in the polls is a sobering reminder to Democrats intoxicated with his campaign's promises to expand the electoral map beyond the boundaries that have constrained other recent party nominees.
That gap between expectations and reality comes as Democrats enjoy the most favorable political winds since at least 1976. At least eight in ten Americans believe the nation is on the wrong track. The Republican president is historically unpopular. From stunning Democratic gains in party registration to the high levels of economic anxiety, Obama should have a healthy lead by almost every measure. Yet, in poll after poll, Obama conspicuously fails to cross the 50 percent threshold.
If there is a primary explanation as to why the race has remained close this summer, it is that Obama has failed to make gains overall with white voters, who still cast about three in four ballots on Election Day.
Make the jump... there's more. |

Economy in the crapper.
Forty-Seven million without healthcare.
Countless Americans losing their homes to foreclosure.
Skyrocketing gas prices.
An illegal war without end and an opponent who's said we could be there 100 years.
Ummm... Speaking of his opponent - "Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran"
A republican incumbent who's numbers are in the cellar (3rd term anyone?).
Guys we should be winning this race for the WH in a cakewalk. And with all the open seats in Congress one would think we'd be able to win a veto-proof majority in the Senate (just in case). But now it's looking more and more like we'll be lucky to hold our razor thin majority there.
There's no excuse for BHO's anemic numbers against McCain at this point.
I don't know about you, but if I were a Democrat running for office down-ticket to BHO, I'd be mighty worried about his short - or nonexistent coattails here. I think they know as well as we do that BHO's inability to close the deal will hurt their chances at winning their own contest and from what I've been hearing, some of those superdelegates are starting to take a fresh look at Hillary.
Superdelegates - there's still time to head off this train-wreck for our party. Wake up and smell the rotten poll numbers here folks - save us! |
