Q. What do the two stories below have in common?

Edwards admits having affair, says he's ashamed (AP)
WASHINGTON - John Edwards says he made a serious error in judgment when he had an affair and is ashamed of his conduct. In a statement, the former Democratic presidential candidate also said he informed his wife about his affair with 42-year-old Rielle Hunter in 2006 and has asked her forgiveness.

A. They are former opponents of Barack Obama, people that he wants diminished or out of his way at the Democratic Convention in two weeks, so that his light can shine (oops, is that racist) more brightly.

There's a history of people who oppose Barack Obama having their dirty linen aired in public.

timing speculated that this is an effort to remove universal health care as a major Dem party issue.  Take EE off the convention speakers' list and try to put HRC on the defensive - or at least having to answer questions unrelated to issues.

Remember Primary Colors, when John Travolta and Emma Thompson do oppo research on an opponent? They first present the information to the opponent before going public (they never went public.)

In other words, they gave him a chance to protect his privacy and drop out; as it would likely be discovered by the press.

It's quite possible that one of Barack's newly converted team members has heard Barack muse something to the effect of, who will rid me of this meddlesome priest, and acted on his or her own.  It's also possible this is a strictly money thing, someone got paid a lot to steal emails.  Since they're printed copies, there is no way to tell if there has been any creative editing.  Some of Barack's more obnoxious race-baiting supporters have jumped already, gleefully predicting that he now can't choose Hillary as VP. So, it's also possible that some in his team fear they'll lose power when she's on the ticket. She has no respect for hacks and she does like performance and accountability, so maybe someone had a point.

pigs flying ;o)  I mean that BHO and AxelRove aren't intimately aware of and involved with the taking out of BHO's rivals.

I just wish Hillary would let loose the dirt I'm sure they've collected on BHO - but sadly, they won't.

Someone's gotta have integrity and honor in DC.  One of the many reasons I'm backing her and still fighting for her.

It's a disadvantage in only one way, her opponents know she has integrity and she'll always put the party first. That's why they could 'fear' Barack would try to start riots and they had no such fear of her.  In every other way her decency and big-picture thinking makes her the only politician I've ever worked on behalf of.
