The CBS story today is fascinating in many ways. It goes through the many Obama problems right now. Then it talks about how Hillary is telling her associates she doesnt think he has the stuff and she worries about this country. In a tidbit below the article states that penn is showing stats on mccain vs obama in a presentation. I know we are all so emotionally drained and desperate here but I now wonder if she is contacting some supers on the feel of this. What do yall read in t his?
texan4hillary :: CBS: Is Hillary Courting Supers? That is What Appears to Me...
A few weeks back, Time magazine was musing that John McCain was in danger of sliding from "a long shot" to a "no-shot." Around the same time, a hard-nosed former Hillary Clinton insider declared the race "effectively over" thanks to the McCain campaign's ineptitude, the tanking U.S. economy and Barack Obama's advantages in cash, charisma and hope. And Obama, up by three to six points nationally, was about to leverage a much-anticipated trip to Iraq, Afghanistan and Europe into a pre-convention poll surge.

Instead, his supporters are now suffering a pre-Denver panic attack, watching as John McCain draws incrementally closer in state and national polls - with Rasmussen's most recent daily national tracker showing a statistical dead heat.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton has been privately enumerating her doubts about Obama to supporters, according to people who have spoken with her. Clinton's pollster Mark Penn recently unveiled a PowerPoint presentation red-flagging Obama's lukewarm leads among white female voters and Hispanics - while predicting a five-point swing could turn a presumed Obama win into a McCain landslide.

"It's not that people think McCain will win - it's that they are realizing that McCain could win," says Quinnipiac University pollster Peter Brown, whose surveys show tight races in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida. "This election is about Barack Obama - not John McCain - it's about whether Barack Obama passes muster. Every poll shows that people want a Democratic president, the problem is they're not sure they want Barack Obama."

is that these polls show EXACTLY what all of us having been saying for over 9 months now. Obama cannot beat McCain. As for what Hillary is doing, I have no idea, but I trust her and trust that she is doing what is in the best interest of the party to win back the White House. Which from the PUMA perspective, is to advance her case that she is the strongest nominee. So, as a Democrat who wants a strong leader for our party, I hope that she is talking to the Supers. I hope she is successful in gaining their support.

I don' think she's courting anyone for herself, but for those issues. The platform is being written up and no. 1 is now health care, and I'd say that's because of Hillary.

If Barack wants to win it would be easy, - invite Hillary onto the ticket. If he is too proud to do that, he'll show his message of uniting and leading from the bottom, of consensus even if you don't get your own way, is just words, and show he's arrogant. He needs to show he's neither.

And, if he picked Hillary I bet a few of us will do some amusing diaries for him too.  And at the very least, we'll still be blogging positive about his running mate.

But, why is this to be announced over a pay-for-it text message, how broke is he?

I don't think he's broke, and the VP pick is free media. Telecoms will benefit with this text VP gimmick and the O camp also gets access to how many more people? BTW, how freakin' irresponsible is it to tell your followers to send the offer to everyone they know, including their CO-WORKERS. I was never keen on having my staff sit around checking emails, the internet and texts. Sorry, I have deadlines. I need people who will produce, not ones that are sitting around waiting for the latest Obama text.

{Yes, I'm b!tchy today! ;)}
