Open Thread: In Case You're Wondering...

by: Alegre

Tue Aug 12, 2008 at 00:21:32 AM EDT

I've seen a lot of  speculation as to why millions of Hillary's 18 million supporters are refusing to fall in line behind the DNC's hand-chosen candidate.

There are a LOT of reasons.  Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the Rules and Bylaws Committee of the DNC enabled the theft - yes theft of 59 delegates from my homestate of Michigan.  They stole my mom's vote dammit and I'm pissed.

Harold Ickes spoke for millions of us that day...

Anyone looking at Harold Ickes can tell he's seething with the frustration and anger that comes when you realize that your fellow RBC members had already made up their minds long before they sat down to hash this out.  He probably knew what he was up against but those of us out on the street actually thought that the members of the BRC would listen to his argument (that the RULES of the Party dictate that you cannot take delegates from one candidate - Hillary or Uncommitted and give them to another) and come to the only conclusion possible.  Adhere to the wishes of the 600,000 voters and seat the delegates as certified by Michigan's Secretary of State.

Well folks Harold was channeling the frustration and anger of millions of us that day, and speaking only for myself... I don't back THIEFS with my labor, donations or my VOTE.  I don't care how many mailers they send me, or how many invites I get to unity rallies, I'm not backing down.

Ok I got that off my chest.  This is an open thread - tell us what's on your mind.

I want them to hear us and get it, not just try to dismiss us.  it's like they refuse to see how this contest has been a job interview, and we can live with Barack, but not because we're told we must like good little girls.  From our point of view the wrong one won, and okay,, that's okay, but some serious stuff was revealed and we want the press and our party leaders to get it.  They'll listen maybe when it's too late. Right now we want Hillary to be the VP nom, she's still the most qualified and she's so good at getting stuff done, he'd have to be a fool to pass up that kind of help.

Who is "We"?  Perhaps you should just speak for yourself.

Sorry ...
1)  I can't "live with Barack"
2)  It's not "o.k." that the "wrong one won".
3)  I do not want Hillary "to be the VP nom".

I'm disgusted with the Dem party.  Fortunately I received a call today asking for my wallet and had the opportunity to give them an earful.

it's truth, it's how you feel and you have reasons.  No, unlike the group-thinkers we're not all we.  We're each ourselves.

Anna, I'm here trying to understand the PUMA thing.  The thing that I wish most is that y'all would understand where others may be coming from, including but not limited to me.  Kind of ironic to see you wishing for the same understanding of your own perspective.  I hope we both get what we're wishing for.

Matt, I don't want to toot my own horn (0.00 / 0)
But I wrote a couple of diaries trying to help people like you understand where Pumas are coming from.

The first is Understanding Refusniks Part I

http://alegrescorner.soapblox....

The second is Choosing Girls

http://alegrescorner.soapblox....

And the third is 18 Million Cracks in the Democratic Coalition

http://alegrescorner.soapblox....

It you read the comments in these diaries, you'll also find another dominant thread which concerns the growing corruption of process in the Democratic Party.

And then, documented in many other diaries, is the unbelievable vulgar sexism this primary season.  The most troublesome sexism was not, I repeat, was not in the MSM.  The worst was on the so-called Progressive blogs like Daily Kos.  What happened there was vile and disgusting.  Even to this day, Kos is unwilling to admit that he let it happen and that it was wrong.

The roots of the asymmetry in the treatment of women and AAs in the Democrat Party are neatly laid out in this diary by Anna Belle entitled Eyes on the Prize:

http://alegrescorner.soapblox....

When Alegre called the strike last spring, she was making a deep and profound statement about the real state of affairs in the Democratic Party; a statement most bloggers preferred to ignore.

Then there is the general view that Obama simply has no relevant experience to be President, etc., etc., etc.

Let me make one more point before I hit "post."  Your point of view is well articulated across the MSM and the blogs.  We've heard you.  We know what you think and we know why.  Your point of view is hardly under-represented in the MSM or the blogworld.

What don't you understand? (0.00 / 0)
We're mad that our votes were ignored, halved and stolen.

We're angry about an undemocratic caucus system which disenfranchises voters.. especially women with children.

We're angry that the Dem party tolerated the gross sexism exhibited in the primary by the media, Obama's supporters and campaign, and Obama himself.

Oh, have I mentioned I can't stand Obama?

How about this, Matt? We're mad because our votes don't count. (0.00 / 0)
I have a supposed Hillary Clinton delegate who's said flat-out she'll vote for Obama, Marilyn Nemeth, who was the "replacement" for Debra Bartoshevich -- the Clinton delegate who said she's for Hillary first, McCain second, but didn't trust the DNC (and she was right).  See my two diaries about Debra B.

Now.  I am angry because we've had this guy stuffed down my throat over and over again, and no one cares what we think.

If Obama had a political I.Q. in the positive numbers, things would never have come to this.  Period.

I agree we need consensus.  But I think y'all waited too damned long to ask us what we thought.

The day the Rules and Bylaws Committee of the DNC "ruled" that Obama "deserved" 55 Uncommitted delegates from MI, then took 4 of Hillary Clinton's earned delegates, then halving those and halving the delegates from FL, was the day democracy died.  And the day Obama lost any legitimacy.  Period.

There's no excuse for this, DNC.  None.

Yes, this is true and there is a video (0.00 / 0)
of Donna B. talking to a reporter saying that they had met the night before and decided what they would do.  Have you seen it?

but since this is an open thread and I can't begin to tell you how many "sorry, but this video is no longer available" I get from YouTube (I can get the videos, but it's a lot of time-wasting work... Time I often don't have to waste.)

Just for fun...

Bush Stuns World with 5-Syllable Word

Aug. 11, 2008 (LPAC) -- President George Bush shocked the world today from Beijing, when he correctly pronounced a 5-syllable word on a televised press conference. "I've expressed my grave concern about the disproportionate (dis-pro-por-tion-ate) response of Russia...," the President said, in grammatically correct, if politically stupid, English.

Various unconfirmed reports have emerged to explain the unprecedented event. The most believable is that the Chinese have been providing secret lessons in English for the retarded President, ...

More on-topic: Far from all of us PUMAs want to see Senator Clinton be the VP nom. Some do, yes.

On the Subject of Economic Conditions (0.00 / 0)
First, it's useful to go here to visualize the very large (billions, trillions) numbers involved.

http://www.kokogiak.com/megape...
About numbers, not money or economics.

Then, watch a short video, giving an excellent calm, reasoned, non-technical report on what's happening (and not happening) with our government and hyperinflation.
http://www.larouchepac.com/new...

With that, you probably know more than 95% of the U.S. population about the subject.

why is it no longer available????? (0.00 / 0)
I have seen this youtube video numerous times.  I wonder why it is no longer available when they have things still available that are over 6 months old???  Could it be that they are trying to cover up a theft of votes? Especially now that BHO has asked for Michigan and Florida to be seated with 100% voting power?  And that BHO does not want to have to give back the 4 delegates that he hijaked along with those uncommitted delegates?????

Timing seems a little questionable to me!!!

The video above (Ickes) IS still available (0.00 / 0)
I just now watched it by clicking here. I don't know why some morons at Youtube put up that inane "sorry, but this video is no longer available" when they are having bandwidth problems or whatever, but it's very rarely true.

Hell of a video (it's of a CNN broadcast too). Ickes blasted that fool corrupt committee but good. Does anyone have any thoughts on if he would be serving in the new Clinton administration and how, were Hillary President? I'm thinking he'd make a fine press secretary.
