America's Town Hall

You've got to be kidding.  Give me a break.  Can you believe this one?  The Democratic Party has begun touting its convention as "America's Town Hall", which has now been deemed the convention's  official, over-arching theme.

This has got to be the irony of all ironies.

Is Barack Obama having this Town Hall Convention to make up for his repeated failure to take up Hillary's on-going invitations to join her in town hall forums, and then failing again to take up McCain's same offers. Hmmmm..... What was Barack Obama initial reply to McCain?  Something like "anytime, anywhere."  Of course "anytime, anywhere" never materialized.

From the Dem Convention Town Hall statement:

As part of throwing open the doors to the Convention, we're inviting Americans from around the country to contribute to the program by asking questions in America's Town Hall.

where:

Americans from across the country will have the opportunity to have their questions answered live from the Convention floor through "America's Town Hall," an interactive dialogue designed to bring more people into the Convention.

(from Lynn Sweet's Chicago Sun Times report; link below)

Don't you love them "throwing open the doors"?  I hope they'll let in Debra Bartoshevich and Sacha Millstone!

At the convention townhall website:  http://www.demconvention.com/t...

you will find:

we will SELECT a few questions to use at the Democratic National Convention from August 25-28.  These questions will be answered by speakers, live from Denver in front of thousands of delegates in the hall and millions of Americans watching from home.

(caps mine) How's that for democracy in action? (millions and millions watching, of course; "big is beautiful" for Barack.)  One of the topics specifically requested for the American citizenry's online input:

"how to change politics as usual"

I can't wait to see them articulating all our questions on this one!  Do you think any of your questions will make the SELECT few?

Here's what Howard Dean has to say of the Convention Town Hall:  "This is not our Convention....This is America's Convention."  (just had to bypass a few of "those people" on the way to America's Convention)

you don't think this was test marketed either?  Like that presidential seal idea? I thought those ad men knew how to check things for hypocrisy . Now there will be more jokes he can scold about?

Hillary - alternative energy

I sure hope there will be lots of jokes. (0.00 / 0)

If the comedians dare to satirize the One.

BHO's ad men sure have a lot of audacity.

let's send them some suggestions/questions (0.00 / 0)
re: "how to change politics as usual"

One double question could be:

Do you think increasing voter turnout during primary season is a good idea?  What were the voter turnout rates in the 2008 caucuses as compared to the primary turnout rates?

ANy other relevant questions?  We could start a list.

Do the gimmicks ever end? They are trying to throw Hillary's delegates under the bus (along with the 18 million Americans that voted for her). All this is going to backfire. Hell, it already is because PUMA exists and "celebrity" attacks (of all things) is bursting Obama's bubble. It's absurd and that's how Americans are starting to see it.

Alice left me in Wonderland.

As Howard Dean said: (0.00 / 0)

"This is not our convention...this is America's Convention."  all the while throwing Hillary's delegates under the bus and after throwing millions of FL and MI American voters under the bus........That's called audacity.

input again eh??? Sorry I am so not going there. Trust me after the whole platform thing I will not waste my time. The questions have already been selected and the answers are already scripted. I am sure they thrilled some bots somewhere by promising them their minute of glory.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice? I don't think so!

Thanks for bringing us up to date on the latest DNC marketing gimmick.

Town hall meeting- I thought McCain was doing those???

spot on (0.00 / 0)

a SELECT FEW questions posed before MILLIONS of viewers.  BHO is the most scripted EMPTY SUIT ever.  even more than GWB.

Let's overwhelm them with some pointed questions (0.00 / 0)
about the Democratic Party's primary season's democratic process.

Does "changing politics as usual" mean a more democratic, open process?

Ask them if tossing out millions of their own duly registered voters is setting a good example for making the process more democratic?

Let's point out how much larger voter turnout is for the primaries as opposed to caucuses.  Shove this one down their throats.
