Republicans for Obama Launches-This is Some SCARY Stuff Here...

by: texan4hillary

Tue Aug 12, 2008 at 20:17:44 PM EDT

We hear yet more worrisome news on Obama. Frmr Congressman Jim Leach of iowa, Republican ousted in a tight hardfought race by a hardcore demcorat, is heading up Republicans for Obama! Sen Chaffee, another ousted GOP senator, also is in this new group. According to CBS they are pushing for Sen Hagel , a conservative , to be on the Obama ticket. Yikes.  You will love the part below on Obama making a website for Republicans to show how his views are similiar to theirs! I also thought we should look at some of Leach's record in Congress. Can we have Hillary and our party back NOW?!

"Republicans For Obama" Take The Stage
Posted by Brian Montopoli| 14

The Obama campaign is today unveiling endorsements from Republicans who support Obama, among them former U.S. Rep. and Foreign Service officer Jim Leach.

Leach was on a conference call this morning with two other Republicans backing the presumptive Democratic nominee: Former Rhode Island Senator Lincoln Chaffee and former White House intelligence advisor Rita E. Hauser, a onetime fundraiser for President Bush.

On the call, the Obama campaign indicated that a Web site will be launched in the next few days to lay out Obama and John McCain's policies, so Republicans can "learn" whose beliefs more closely match their own. The call's participants suggested that Obama's positions fall closer to traditional Republicans principles than McCain's, particularly on foreign affairs.

Leach, meanwhile, said he hoped that Obama will consider Chuck Hagel, a Republican not as of now one of the "Republicans For Obama," as his running mate.

Leach also said Obama offers the sort of -leadership "that the world is crying out for," adding that "the national interest demands a new approach to our interaction with the world."

The McCain campaign, meanwhile, sent out an email noting that "Leach co-authored the Gramm-Leach-Bliley act which Obama blames for the subprime lending crisis."

Let us see what Republican Leach has supported over the years that will comfort Democrats. Not a whole lot really, especially since the DSCC poured in the resources to oust him, which they did!

All in all his record on some very key core Democratic items is disturbing. His record is mixed. He did support certain gay rights and did not support the war. This congressman was defeated in a upset that DEMOCRATS  worked hard to do. I wonder what his Democratic successor in Iowa thinks of this move by Obama?

Republican democrats? (0.00 / 0)
In all fairness, McCain seems to have Lieberman in tow at all times. That still doesn't make it right and is just weird.

Why does Obama, the DNC, and the Democratic leaders want Republicans and/or their support in the party, but they don't want to hold on to the Democratic base? It just doesn't make any sense.

those obamazoids are confused. (0.00 / 0)
most of them are like kos - little reagan republicans who got pissed because all the other republicans are like OLD and stuff.

their idea of a social contract is where they get exclusive rights to focus on their social life or something. they're closet libertarians, every goddam one of 'em. they'd privatize social security in a heartbeat if you'd let 'em - as long as they got a cut.

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.
