Aux Barricades! Meet Hillary in Denver!!!

Ok, sorry, I just wanted to give the kos kiddies a heart attack. Maybe that's Hillary in the painting. Maybe it's Alegre!! Maybe it's riverdaughter!!!! They're ANARCHISTS, I tell you!!!!

I just find it hilarious that the same people who were muttering darkly less than six months ago about taking to the streets of Denver if Hillary "stole" the election are now the prosperous burghers, huddled in their homes, tut-tutting over the danger posed by the ravenous hordes of PUMAs threatening the very basis of civilized society and marauding in the streets.

Well, let's just say they found their niche. Those of us who were around back in the day knew all along the kos kiddies weren't cut out to be revolutionaries. The kos kiddies grew up during the Reagan era, and they won't be happy until they've installed his spiritual successor as leader, bless their little crypto-libertarian hearts.

Actually, here's the not quite as exciting but still important REAL news. Hillary's started a contest, and the winner gets to join her in Denver for the convention. Follow me...

campskunk :: Aux Barricades! Meet Hillary in Denver!!!
Here's the text of her email:

Dear campskunk,

I cannot wait for the lights to come up and the cameras to roll at the Democratic National Convention in Denver. When I join Democrats from across the country who are unified and ready to get to work to elect Barack Obama, I want you there.

I hope you will take this chance to come and cheer us on!

So many people have reached out to help us pay down our campaign debt, and I was just overwhelmed by the generous spirit of so many of you. I'm pleased to announce that Leslie of Tacoma, WA won our contest and will be joining me for dinner soon. But so many people participated that I knew I just had to give you another chance. So will you enter today for the chance to join me in Denver?

Join me in Denver. Contribute today.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see an event that will truly make history. I'll make sure you get great seats to see me speak on Tuesday night when I address the nation and see Senator Obama accept the nomination at Mile High Stadium on Thursday.

We're going to have an amazing convention and head into the fall campaign unified and ready to work. And if you contribute today to help us pay down our campaign debt, you might be the one to join me in Denver!

Join me in Denver. Contribute today.

If you're the lucky winner, we'll fly you to Denver, where you'll be my special guest at the convention. And I'll make sure that you and I have some time together to chat. You'll get to see me speak Tuesday night and see Senator Obama accept the nomination at Mile High Stadium on Thursday.

You know that we're still working hard to pay off all the small vendors we owe from our presidential campaign. And your help continues to make a huge difference.

So let's have some fun in Denver -- try your luck and contribute today. You might be the one joining me for the 2008 Democratic Convention!

Contribute today, and you might be my special guest for the convention.

Thank you again for your incredible support!

Sincerely,

Hillary

Oh MAN I would love to win this. I can't think of a better person to hang out with. She's smart, she's funny... and she's got Obama by the short hairs on this nomination thing.

As a consolation prize, if you don't win this, you could always enter the Obama contest, and get a chance to meet Barack backstage and listen to him talk about himself.

Great contest...but I'd prefer to just... (0.00 / 0)
have dinner with Bill and Hill without the other bullshit.

BTW...it's only about 10 days to the coronation, er, I mean, the convention and not a word from BO about his VP choice.  Isn't it getting a little close in order to get any mileage from his choice - oh, wait, maybe he's hoping no one will notice who he selects since the list is so short and the peole on it are the dregs of the party.

Maybe he'll text his groupies this afternoon - as in a Friday news dump.

He and McCaian are negotiating over who gets (0.00 / 0)
Hillary for their VP

The loser loses.

I think he has picked Hagel and is too scared to (0.00 / 0)
say so until after he has the nomination. That would be a deal-breaker for a lot of delegates. And remember, he is texting it to all the fans..gag. How undignified can you get?? What's next, texting the SOTU instead of going to Congress to actually give it? Ick.

I'd love to hang (0.00 / 0)
with Hillary too. Maybe I can be Uma's assistant and follow both of them around. "Hillary, could I hold your pen or something while you're waving to your supporters". I could be Hillary's official pen barrier. I'd be happy to hold her pen while she gives her acceptance speech at Mile High stadium on Thursday.

Alice left me in Wonderland.

A wonderful opportunity (0.00 / 0)
I do hope I win. What would I talk about? I can't even imagine where I would begin...

I am also extatic her name will be put in nomination. Only Drudge is making an issue over this under the guise of party disunity, but I don't sense that theme has any legs to it.

But, from her tone in the attached message, it seems that she is more than confident Sen. Obama is the nominee and she is asking for her support.

yeah, she puts that disclaimer in all her statements now. (0.00 / 0)
that's to reassure people like you ;-)

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

[ Parent ]
She is a woman of her word (0.00 / 0)
I don't think Hillary Clinton knows the meaning of the word insincere. I have always believed she is a woman of her word. If she says she will support Sen. Obama should she lose the nomination, I believe her, and I will follow her.

[ Parent ]
Your a better DEM than me, `I can't-----being a DEM is not good enough (0.00 / 0)
for me to vote for them.

I can't think of ONE REASON, I would vote for BO, NOT ONE

We haven't added to our WTF diary, I'd bet you we have three pages of why we CAN'T

[ Parent ]
sammorg, code blue's our pet troll. (0.00 / 0)
code blue has thought and thought, and can't come up with any reason why hillary would be mouthing platitudes in support of obama other than she's suddenly realized he's a wonderful candidate, and MUCH better qualified than she is. that's gotta be the reason.

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

[ Parent ]
Does code blue KNOW who Obama is?? (0.00 / 0)
Could she please tell us why we should vote for him?

Gawd I would love some real answers to so many questions I have about Obama without drinking the koolaid.

[ Parent ]
I can't. (0.00 / 0)
I can't tell you why you should vote for him.

Mr. Skunk seems to believe I am a troll. I find that interesting, as I have never wavered from my support of Sen. Clinton on this Democratic blog.

No, I don't hate Obama. I really don't have anything against him (I really don't have anything for him either).

But I support Sen. Clinton.
I supported her in this primary, and in the event that Alegre is unsuccesful and she is not the nominee, I will continue to support her. And that means trusting her wishes.

[ Parent ]
unfortunately, "blind acceptance" is BO's MO-----not Hillary's (0.00 / 0)
And I've said it in the past,

CAMPSKUNK, I agree with you----it's just very subtle and you really have to know what your reading.

[ Parent ]
WWHCD? (0.00 / 0)
I'm fairly certain Sen. Clinton will vote on November 4th. Surely she isn't blindly following.

[ Parent ]
I confess (0.00 / 0)
I confess that I'm following only the vaguest whiff of an intuition here; but I find myself wondering if you (code blue) have ever made the acquaintance of Lord [Mark] Malloch-Brown.

Be that as it may, returning to the actual thread of discussion here... I myself would prefer to dine at one of the tables where the unifying theme of discussion is the Common Good or the General Welfare. I treasure the way in which truthfulness hangs between the lines in the discussion there.

Adieu. Enjoy your meat.

I can't read anything over at Kosco (0.00 / 0)
Are they really amping this up?  I have family living in downtown Denver telling me someone has been running around behind the scenes saying "Danger Will Robinson, Danger!" and people were FREAKING OUT for awhile but now are beginning to calm down.  You can only stay at threat level Orange for so long without a real physical threat and then you have to get back to living a real life.  Being a threat to someone's denial is called an intervention.....not a threat.  I'm sure that is Hillary up there because she is showing cleavage..........again ;)

no, it was back when obama was floundering. (0.00 / 0)
after hillary kicked his ass in new hampshire, panic swept the faint-hearted ranks of obamazoids, and they were all threatening to riot in denver if she were the nominee, proving what good democrats they all are.

their "support the nominee if you want to call yourself a democrat" mantra is a VERY recent development. some might even call it a position of convenience ;-)

look at this poll from march...

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

Thanks for the run down (0.00 / 0)
You know what?  If the shoe were on the other foot and it was Obama supporters protesting I would be offended as an American by anybody attempting to shut them up.  Shutting people up is UnAmerican.

[ Parent ]
PUKE ALERT: probably a little off topic (0.00 / 0)
Just read an artical on Salon.com
Salon Newsletter [newsletters@salon.com]

They are ACTUALLY BLAMING SENATOR CLINTON and her campaign, if BO gets crushed in NOVEMBER.

Your not gonna believe it, if you have time, respond to these MORONS.

It is NOT SENATOR CLINTON'S responsibility to win the ELECTION for BO ( definitely a good diary)

they've been saying that all year. (0.00 / 0)
it's hillary's fault that obama's a bumbling incompetent. yeah, right.

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

[ Parent ]
If he was so concerned about the situation, (0.00 / 0)
why didn't he hold a committee meeting and get up-to-date info and communications with NATO, since the committee oversees it? When did he call for any of that stuff he claims he has been talking about for so long? I haven't heard squat from Obama on the Russian/Georgian situation until it blew up into a small war. Then he came up with platitudes and wasted everybody's time, and digital memory, by stating the obvious. And the weird thing is that he needed a script to do it. I could have given that speech right off the top of my head..and I am not running for President..he is. Oh man, I hope the delegates, super and otherwise, come to their senses in Denver, I really, really do.

Live your life in such a way that when your feet

[ Parent ]
It's Hillary's fault that Obama has a not too bright side? (0.00 / 0)
It's Hillary's fault that he can deliver a great speech but not real results in real life that actually improve the lives of the people?  It's Hillary's fault he can conceptualize "the people" but he lacks the ability to "be" one of us therefore he constantly insults someone all the while believing he is saying "good" things. He's terrific at marketing but he super sucks at manufacturing the REAL goods.  An idea is a wonderful thing but then it must be brought to life.  Obama is very young, and that's one reason why he doesn't have much of track record in doing this but the other reason is he hasn't really wanted to.  He has wanted to be President and he's done a good job of getting himself there but he doesn't know how to do the things a good President needs to be able to do and I'm not sure he really wants to know how to do those things.

What I would love to ask her this time (0.00 / 0)
Since living in NH I've had the brief opportunity before.

I'd be very blunt and ask why she is putting the Democratic Party ahead of her country.

Why is it so important to preserve the so-called unity of a party that does not value values, experience, commitment over winning.

  • When did we become them?
  • When did my party give up and decide the only way to beat the Republicans was to become just like them?
  • Isn't respect for rule of law and one person one vote more important than which party controls the White House?

If winning was always everything, we could have run Springsteen years ago.

The government/congress is no longer for the people and by (0.00 / 0)
the people. They are all indebted to corporations who now have more rights and clout than we do. The Dem party is now officially as skewed as the repug party IMHO.

And we've become citizens who are told to shut up or called racists if we don't just go along and walk lock-step to the voting booth. It sickens me and like those of us who blog we KNOW this stuff. The average joe either doesn't care, knows and has given up and the rest of us are left to our own devices that have little if any affect on anything.

Cynical yup, but as much as I admire groups like PUMA and code pink etc., the numbers in these groups are small. We're losing our hearts and passion and energy to really change anything. I would love to see a massive up rising, but I doubt that will ever happen again like back in the 60s.

[ Parent ]
Oh and I'm from NH to and was emailing Arnie Arneson (0.00 / 0)
about my questions about Obama and her answers were 'The crowds the crowds' referring to the free concert crowds at O's teleprompter speeches in Washington or Oregon and in Europe. I use to think she was quite political savvy having her own political talk show and having run locally for office, but she was aga ga over O. It made me ill.

[ Parent ]
At the state convention back in may or june (0.00 / 0)
Kathy Sullivan, Clinton Co-Chair, asked us all to rise and pledge to vote for the eventual nominee of the party.

I wasn't the only one not standing.

She, Arnie, Hillary and all the others are only politicians.  They drank from the communal Kool-Aid cup long before this campaign.  We are not!, and they are really having a hard time understanding that for the first time in memory, the voters are not following their lead.

Must be why we get poohed poohed, told to Get over it (0.00 / 0)
because THEY know better. Another reason I really would like to see serious term limits on all congress and Senate critters.

I've always been a rebel, questioned authority, walked the road less traveled like so many of my free thinking friends on the left, which is what I thought really separated the Dems from the Repugs. Boy, was that idealist of me since I now know both parties are too much the same to appeal to me any longer.  Nader's looking good, old, but good. At least he's been consistant about going after the Corporations who are running OUR government and control most every phase of a person's life now a days.

[ Parent ]
Did you have to pledge to vote Kerry (0.00 / 0)
That seems so odd, that she would ask for a pledge.

[ Parent ]
I wasn't there in 2004 (0.00 / 0)
Her job at the state convention was to bring us together.  I guess if you are a party official like I am (town chair of vice) you are expected to toe the party line at all times.  Very Rethuglican of them.

I agree NH---and I don't understand it either (0.00 / 0)
Where I live the local news is saying she will be releasing her delegates and supporting Bo

If this is here speech she's giving, I can't bear to watch it, I'd rather read about it.

Under the cirucmstances, (and I don't see him asking her to be VP)---I just CANNOT to the DEMS this election. They just don't hold up what we value as you said.

She gives to him all of what she's earned, at the convention, I think it will be my last straw.

PUMAs at the Convention ! (0.00 / 0)

Roseeriter: I don't think we're as "small" as you might thinkl (0.00 / 0)
There are millions of us, on this internet, agains BO (just as there are for him)

That does NOT count the PEOPLE we don't see on the interenet.

REMEMBER THIS:  The GOP's have just been sitting back and watching the DEMS destroy themselves.

With the POLLS as they stand today, and when the GOP's are done, the landslide is going to be the TOTAL opposite of what our INEPT leaders of the DNC are WISHFULLY THINKING.

At least I can hold some "repect, and trust" in McCain.
Is he my choice, HELL NO, but he's better than a nothing, and in my opinion, a "dangerous" nothing.

I was asked to pass this link.  Our Gay civilization is being jeapordized.  It's long, but informative, and scary as hell.------OBOTS is the RIGHT DESCRIPTION for these people: their way or NO WAY and I consider that DANGEROUS, when they are our FEARLESS LEADERS.
http://ohmyvalve.blogspot.com/...

That's my hope but one can only handle so many blogs LOL (0.00 / 0)
I would hope that we are a huge group and that the majority could actually be as narrowly focused as the obamabots would seriously upset me.

On the up side I have met many moderate Republicans who feel the same way as we do about Obama and Bush. I'm so tired of all the slicing and dicing of the American pie that the Bush and now Obama elections have caused.

Speaking of "Liberty Leading the People," (0.00 / 0)
there was a superb poster for the Mondale-Ferraro campaign, with Geraldine as "Liberty" and Mondale carrying an ERA banner.  I have a framed one which was given to me as a thank you for volunteering.

Here's a link with a photo of it, scroll down 'til you see it.

i used to have my wrist rocket slingshot from the old days, but unfortunately, i gave it to my nephew. my brother-in-law laughed like hell - he was in paris in '68. just as well - it's more how fast you can run than how well you can shoot, and i can't run very fast (or very far) anymore.
