what's important?

this is a short diary to remind us all what is important.

It's winning the GE.

If Barack can't win or has too good a chance of losing he must be pressured by the DNC to concede and accept the VP spot. If he can win with Hillary he must be pressured to invite her on the ticket and accept her as a strong vice president.

Barack needs to show all of us his plan to win, how he thinks he can present himself to the public as someone who can solve domestic problems and reduce the level of threat in the world. If he can't do that, he needs to be lectured and asked to drop out, with dignity but with alacrity.

There is little time between now and the convention, after which it will be too late. His supporters are primed to revolt if he isn't the nominee, so he must make this choice, to run and lose if he has no credible plan to win handily, or to step aside for the good of us all.

It's his choice. He can show how he'll do it and convince party members and the super's that it's a great and winning plan, or he can concede for the good of the nation. If he makes no move  there is a chance that he'll lose in Denver by a few votes.  At that point he'd best be ready to do some unifying, or his supporters will assume that he wants to crash and burn the party.

This is his moment of truth. What is his plan to win?

what's important? winning the white house. (0.00 / 0)
the most recent polling comparing how both hillary and obama did against mccain showed hillary doing five points better than obama did against mccain. the democratic party can't afford to give up five points - they lost both the 2000 and 2004 election by less than that. unless the superdelegates want to make it three in a row, they need to support the best candidate -hillary.

i have my doubts about obama doing the right thing. since when has he EVER done the right thing? his whole political career has been to advance one cause- his political career. while hillary spent valuable political capital to advance the causes of children, health care, and women's issues, obama hasn't stuck his neck out for anything, and that's exactly the kind of leader he'd be if he somehow got elected.

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

she was careful to not harm him in the primary and he did his best to destroy her. But if he has no plan to win, the DNC must pressure him to do something and if he resists, the vote in Denver must be fair and she must have a chance to win it.  We need to win.  This is too important.

How about Obama applying his own standards to himself?

He said tonight he would not have voted for Clarence Thomas for the Supreme Court because Thomas was too inexperienced for the position.

Seriously!

inexperience (0.00 / 0)
was Thomas's least bad problem. Maybe he feared anything else would be spun against him.  But, that is pretty funny.

McCain seriously kicked his butt (0.00 / 0)
on the CNN show tonight.  When asked the names of the three people he thought the wisest, Obama named his grandmother and Michele.  And it took him a helluva lot of "ah...um...ahs."    McCain came on and said immediately, Petraeas, John Lewis, and one other person who I can't remember her name.  But it WAS a woman.  There was no hesitation, or stammering----McCain spoke directly without any stammering.  I ahte to say it---I've never even considered voting for a Republican before---but McCain looked good.

that's VERY bad news.... (0.00 / 0)
...if those are the wisest people obama knows, and he gets elected, all the expert advisers in the world aren't going to be able to prevent him from doing some incredibly stupid things, because he isn't going to listen to them. just like bush.

and mccain is right about john lewis.

Wow...good for McCain. I'm a little floored he named (0.00 / 0)
Lewis, though of course he's right.  I believe the woman was Meg Whitman(Ebay founder/CEO).

Correct on Meg but she is not the founder (0.00 / 0)
eBay CEO etc. but not actually the founder.  The founder,  Pierre Omidyar, was smart enough to know his own limitations.

Saddleback (0.00 / 0)
Did anyone watch the Saddleback Forum this weekend?

McCain's bold statement that life begins at conception should open some independent eyes . . . that think he is pro-choice. We can't lose the GE! I trust Hillary to do the right thing in Denver!!

trust them both? (0.00 / 0)
We need a stronger ticket than McCain is against abortion. That's too single issue, and it can be spun that it's the law of the land, Bush II did that too, and to most abortion is still legal, it's only those who want one that find out the real story, in those states that make it nearly impossible.  I'm hoping Barack will do what he must to win the GE, if he can't bring himself to put her on the ticket as a strong vp and bring her 18 mil and her experience into his camp, he may need to think about a contingency plan.  Hillary would have told him not to accuse John of cheating, with no proof. That only makes Barack look small and quick to accuse.  What Barack needs to do is be on stage with John, but first prepare, and no one could help him prepare for debates than the most experienced two - Hillary and Bill. We might lose the GE, even though we can't.  It's that dire.

What is the right thing, you are trusting her to do? (0.00 / 0)
I am not sure about where you are going with your comment.
