Rumors Rumors EVERYWHERE!

by: Alegre

Sun Aug 17, 2008 at 17:48:40 PM EDT

Oh gang I think we need to take a deep breath and step back for a moment.  There are a lot of rumors flying around regarding Hillary's plans for her delegates and I have yet to see any of them backed up with solid evidence to make me think any of them are based on facts.

At this point it's ALL speculation.

And remember guys - even if a small fraction of those rumors are true, a lot can happen in 10 days.

And probably will.

So can we all please keep our eyes on the prize, ignore the rumors and the "what-ifs" and get back to work?

Hit the phones to the delegates.
Hit the phones to the polling firms re getting Hillary on the polls.
Send off emails to delegates.
Write LTEs to your local papers.

In other words... We've still got a shot at this and a lot of work to do so LET'S GET TO WORK!

See the links along the left margin of this site?

that "hillary will release her delegates" rumor... (0.00 / 0)
...is a calculated disinformation initiative fro the obama campaign. it serves two purposes:

1) it helps obama save face on his capitulation on the roll call vote

and

2) it is an effort to convince people who are voting for hillary because she's the best candidate to put up against mccain that their vote won't mean anything.

it's part and parcel of the "symbolic" vote language the obama people are spitting out - look at richardson on CNN today. it's all propaganda.

make no mistake about it - whoever wins the majority of the delegate votes is going to be our nominee. if that's "symbolic", i'll eat my hat. those are real votes, and obama knows it - that's why he's still trying to steal as many as possible. the congressional superdelegates are hanging tough, despite all the obama intimidation. they need to be told thank you, and encouraged to continue to do the right thing and vote for the best qualified and electable candidate- hillary clinton.

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

I repeat my request (0.00 / 0)
to Barack Obama to release all his delegates.

And once again, I second. So moved? (0.00 / 0)
Robert's Rules of Order are in effect. ;-)

Please, Senator Obama.  Do the right thing for the Democratic Party and the United States of America as a whole, and bow out.  You are not ready for prime time, as your pitiful performance at the "faith summit" last evening showed.

There's no excuse for this, DNC.  None.

Like he said about Clarence Thomas, Barack Obama is too inexperienced for the job.  I think he senses that.

are behind them.  It's dead heat, they get to decide.  If they go Barack, he fails to ask HIllary onto the ticket, thus fails to unite, fails to do what he must to win the GE, they are obligated to check him, with a check mate.  We need to WIN!!!

just heard (0.00 / 0)
Lou Dobbs say Hillary is now just 13 votes away from Obama in securing nomination.  I wonder where he's getting that from!

[ Parent ]
I trust Lou's info. (0.00 / 0)
Although, like you, I'd really enjoy finding out where it's from.

Btw, I wrote to the polling places today and will be calling 'em tomorrow.  We need Rasmussen, Quinnipiac and Gallup to start polling Hillary Clinton v. John McCain again -- that will show the supers what for!  (Alegre's right.  Let's put the pressure on those pollsters.)

There's no excuse for this, DNC.  None.

NOW You Know Why They Wanted Her Kepf Off the Ballot (0.00 / 0)
Seriously - now that she's going to be on the ballot I'm guessing her delegates are starting to return to the fold.

Michele Thomas (hrc300delegates) just said they expect to have the required delegates for the nominating petition by tomorrow.

I've also been hearing that BHO's camp are worried their own delegates won't bother showing up to the convention.

We've got a horse-race here folks and we have GOT to keep our head down and work hard at getting through to those delegates and the Superdelegates.

WE CAN DO THIS!

If she gets the nomination, do I get to do (0.00 / 0)
the "I told you so!!" dance?? Every time I say that Obama is losing steam and that Hillary can get the nomination, people pooh-pooh the notion. Well, it keeps getting better and better, and when she gets the nomination, I am doing the "I told you so!!" dance. Heh.

Will do, Alegre! (0.00 / 0)

This is my all-day project for tomorrow.

Tomorrow's my birthday. I'll send e-mails early, call a few and then I'm out. n/t (0.00 / 0)

Sunday's Gallup: (0.00 / 0)

McCain   45
Obama   45

and nowhere to go but down. (0.00 / 0)
the other democratic candidates who lost were ahead of the Republican at this point.  obama's starting out BEHIND where Gore and Kerry were.

there's still time to get a winning nominee.

But would you go first and trust the One?

I say (0.00 / 0)
the One goes First.  Or can there be a simultaneous release?

That sounds like something Michelle (0.00 / 0)

good idea (0.00 / 0)
but, I think it's better for them to each keep their pledged delegates for round one, pledged delegates are obligated to vote the way they were voted for.  It's up to the supers, the pledged delegates are, well, pleaded for a reason, they represent votes.

Dear HIllary,

Do not release your pledged delegates, that's like saying you can override your own votes.

Sincerely,

A Democrat who voted for you, not for 'release"

you're right, anna. (0.00 / 0)
all the muscle the obama thugs are putting on hillary supporters is essentially trying to get them to violate state laws in many cases.  many states have laws which require pledged delegates to vote for the candidate they represent at the convention. you know - that pesky "democracy" stuff. there's this quaint notion that the nomination process is somehow related to the preferences of voters, but i'm not sure of the details. maybe we're post-democracy now.

quote from Hillary earlier this year: (0.00 / 0)

"Our Party is ruled by its Democratic voters."

[ Parent ]
than she would not do that (0.00 / 0)
she would not release before the first ballot.  do a diary on this, okay?

I just watched an old (0.00 / 0)

video from primary days, and took the quote from there.  Here's the link.  It's about 9 minutes long, about what happened in FL and MI -- which we must never forget.

calling super delegates (0.00 / 0)
I called Zach Space and Charlie Wilson reps from the state of OHIO and reminded them that although they received $ from Obama, their districts voted overwhelmingly for Hillary and we expect them to represent the will of the people in Denver. The aides at both places said they would pass the information along.

The strange call was to Sen. Brown's office. The aide there told me AGAIN that it was illegal for any voting information to be received in his office. HOWEVER, the aide said she would pass the my request along to the DNC where Sen. Brown could pick it up at the convention. Is that information correct?

Ohio super delegates need to pay attention to what the people of Ohio are saying. The latest "Public Policy Polling (PPP) (pdf) out yesterday now shows the race in the battleground Buckeye state tied at 45% apiece with 10% undecided" (per Charles Lemos @ www.bythefault.com/).

"Always aim high, work hard, and care deeply about what you believe in. When you stumble, keep faith. When you?re knocked down, get right back up. And NEVER listen to anyone who says you can't or shouldn't go on."
