for an aneurysm.

Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Ohio) is in a Cleveland hospital after suffering an aneurysm that caused her to lose consciousness while driving Tuesday night.

A spokesman for Cleveland's Huron Hospital told The Associated Press that Tubbs Jones has been stabilized, but Capitol Hill sources said that her condition was serious.

Cleveland's WOIO is reporting that Tubbs Jones is on life support.

Cleveland Councilman Roosevelt Coat, who was seen sobbing outside the hospital, told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that Tubbs Jones' friends and relatives are preparing for the worst. Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich said that he and his wife were headed to Cleveland to offer comfort and support to the congresswoman's family.

on Fox Urgent Queue from the Ohio AP.  A spokesman for the congresswoman is reporting that she may have suffered an aneurysm. Let's keep her and her family in our thoughts and prayers.

Tubbs Jones "collapsed when she suffered a very serious brain hemorrhage caused by an aneurysm that burst in an inaccessible part of her brain," Kious said during a news conference. A team of doctors who evaluated her determined she has limited brain function.

My personal reaction:  OMG!  OMG!  OMG!  How awful!  And I've already said a prayer for her, and will keep praying very hard.

Note that Ms. Tubbs Jones has "limited" brain function, and that her brain is apparently operating at a low level; she is not dead.

My Mom came all the way back from something similar nine years ago.  Let's pray that this will be the case for Stephanie Tubbs Jones, who is truly a great American.

Note it'll be a tough rehab, if she can get there -- but my money is on her.  And minimal brain function beats none whatsoever -- although people have, on occasion, come all the way back from that, too.

The relevant quote in this article about the AP jumping the gun, btw, is this one:

Several news organizations, including The Associated Press, had earlier reported that Tubbs Jones had died. The AP cited a Democratic official.

The reports prompted Sen. John Kerry to issue a statement mourning her passing.

There's no excuse for this, DNC.  None.
