Jose Rivera is Voting for Hillary - Says Obama Tried a Shakedown

by: campskunk

This is a GREAT story, as only the NYDN can tell it. State Assemblyman and Bronx Democratic Chairman Jose Rivera is going to Denver, voting for Hillary, and is gonna have a BIG banner that says "Bronx County NY Still With Hillary Clinton!"  When pressed for the reason why his former buddy Obama isn't getting a vote, Mr. Rivera tells an interesting story. Watch the video.

Chairman Rivera has a message for you, Obama. Watch for the hand gesture at the 1:05 mark.

You heard it - after inviting all three candidates to speak in his district, guess who showed up? Yep. The girl with the short legs. The boys blew Rivera off. Obama wrote back later and said he'd show up... but only if Rivera would do a fundraiser for him.

BAD move, rookie. These guys were already in the business when you were still in short pants.  The old Chicago shakedown will NOT work in the Bronx. Sorry, kid. That's not how we do things in the big city.

"I don't do fundraisers for nobody," Rivera said. "I wanna know what you're going to do for me once you become president. So we first went for Obama. I'm on record, young lady. We've got copies of the letters, of the invite."

Lesson for Obama: if you're not even gonna show up, don't bother. People support Hillary because she shows up.

Loved the hand gesture too.  Senator Obama, don't mess with the Bronx. Capish?  Loose translation of his statement: Want my support at the convention? Fuget about it.

and this is just one NY assemblyman. (0.00 / 0)
obama's kiss-my-ring arrogance has probably made him more enemies around the country than you can count. that is NOT how you do politics. hillary knew instinctively what to do - she overscheduled herself throughout the campaign to show up for people, big and small.

and people remember stuff like that.

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

I don't do no fundraising for noBODY. I wanna know what you gonna do for me.

Hillary went and talked with them.  Only one who bothered and he's backing her now because of it.

This is wonderful, Campskunk. (0.00 / 0)
I'm very glad to hear about this.  Good going in finding it, and I hope Jose Rivera convinces others to do what he's doing -- back Hillary Clinton.

Good for Mr. Rivera!

There's no excuse for this, DNC.  None.

(CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama's choice for running mate will be announced to supporters in a text message Saturday morning, senior Obama campaign officials told CNN Friday night.

that said, "Messiahs don't need no stinkin' VPs!"

I can't remember who made that -- or if it was made here (a similar one was, I remember that much) -- but that one has stayed with me.

And the follow-up -- Obama/Obama '08 (with it obviously not being Barack and Michelle Obama meant).  (NH, did you do either of those?)

There's no excuse for this, DNC.  None.

LOL Obama/Obama '08 - did you hear today (0.00 / 0)
what he's going to do at the convention is re-introduce himself to the American people, and, wait for it .... tell his life story.

Will he ever get around to talking about the economy? No, he won't.

He's written two memoirs already for crying out loud!

Great video! Chet for VEEP? (0.00 / 0)

I like Jose Rivera.

They mentioned Chet Edwards on NQ and earlier today on Uppity. Seems like the right fit for Obama based on what he said about his VP pick. He's a conservative Dem that should really piss off TPM, CheetoLandia, and MoveOn types. Has a Harvard MBA and some knowledge of economics. Fresh face because no one knows him despite the fact that he's been in Congress for 9 terms. He won't upstage The One. Maybe he'll be known as The Two.

If he's the choice, that ticket has loser written all over it.

Country before party.

Obama is so freakin' stooooopid. (0.00 / 0)
There's a couple others here that were/are being threatened with primaries etc. Maybe Ol' Charlie needs to sit him down and 'splain some things to him. For starters, this is NYC, not Chicago.

Didn't Mr High and Mighty also refuse to pay the districts in places like Philly for the primaries? But has no trouble trying to shake out a few fundraisers from others. Nice.
