Obama's Kossacks are ruining his chances

by: NewHampster

Tue Sep 02, 2008 at 15:44:11 PM EDT

Update 2 I should edit the title because I don't think he's ever had a chance.  The kiddies are helping to put nails in the coffin.  We'll call the next phenomena in the campaign Disassociation by association.  People running from liberalism so as not to be associated with the crap they spew on places like dkos.

Joe Scarborough and crew know how useless the rabble is at the great orange, why haven't other dumbass so-called journalists figured out that you can't use that site as a credible source.

Daily Kos is filled with 20-something boys who have never been involved with politics before.  They get their news on MySpace and their women on MyLatex.com  Maybe someone in authority at MSNBO will actually watch their own Joe and realize that Olberman is an ass for posting on a site filled with hateful little kids.

NewHampster :: Obama's Kossacks are ruining his chances
And for those who listen to Bill O'Reilly here you go.  I hate to give him play because he is scum but in the interest of openness......

UpDATE:  What really bothers me.  Why do all "you people"* fall into the same trap as the MSM?  Why do you take those little kids seriously?

They are twerps whose parents never taught them about respectful communication and discourse.  Stop paying attention, ignore them and eventually they will go away as they graduate cum cheeto and have to get jobs.

The issue is not what stupid kids say, it is the fact that journalists and other grownups take it seriously and as the voice of reason.

KO blogs there thinking he's speaking to the democractic party and liberals everywhere without the slightest inkling that he's conversing with byte head, little slobs he would never allow on his show.

*by you people I mean those who I think have been blogging much longer than I.  I was late to dKos having never even looked at the site until this campaign.  I still think that even with its share of dill weeds, DU is still a much more mature place.

they galavnized Hillary's supporters (4.00 / 5)
Many PUMA blogs grew out of kos, we really found out what Barack tolerated in his smearing of Hillary campaign. I thought he was playing to Hillary Haters, and wondered why he kept it up long after he must have won them all.  But this?  Did those guys earn Obama points?

DKos is the place that made me support (4.00 / 8)
Hillary, that clued me into how much more hatred there is for women in this society than I thought, that brought out the feeling that I could actually strangle someone to death that I didn't know I had.  I owe a lot to Daily Kos.  They have been very helpful to me, and I much appreciate it.

Over the weekend I have been doing a lot of reading on google and found about a thousand articles referring to Daily Kos.  Yet reading at their blog, I see very little if any admonition to the little boys and girls there or statement of regret from them about the world wide reputation they have, now, for being disgusting, childish, and crazy.

Newsweek should fire kos (4.00 / 4)
He does encourage the nastiness.

Democratic congresspeople should stop attending his convention and writing there.

The Atlantic Monthly (Andrew Sullivan) picked up the pregnancy conspiracy theory from dailykos.

you'd think with all the condemnation of sexual practices going on over there you'd stumbled into some weird movement dedicated to denying sexuality altogether.

maybe they're so against sex because of their own personal experiences... or lack thereof.

THE FOX WITHOUT A TAIL

A fox once fell into a trap, and after a struggle managed to get free, but with the loss of his brush. He was then so much ashamed of his appearance that he thought life was not worth living unless he could persuade the other Foxes to part with their tails also, and thus divert attention from his own loss. So he called a meeting of all the Foxes, and advised them to cut off their tails: "They're ugly things anyhow," he said, "and besides they're heavy, and it's tiresome to be always carrying them about with you." But one of the other Foxes said, "My friend, if you hadn't lost your own tail, you wouldn't be so keen on getting us to cut off ours."

Daily Kos has become, in some way, the voice of the far left in the country, and it has become despicable in terms of the comments and gutter attacks...  they know nothing, they have no evidence! It you look at the John Edwards story by comparison in the National Enquirer, of all people, they were doing actual reporting... these people (dKos) do no reporting. So it's all about personally trying to libel and intimidate you...

They give "progressives" a bad name. (4.00 / 7)
Kos is only progressive when it's convenient.  The members behave like kids who grew up communicating via IMs, not fully grasping the fact that there are people are on the receiving end of those messages.

And isn't it weird how some of the worst of the Hillary-haters-kos, Arianna, Aravosis-are ex-republicans?  Maybe they can't forgive the Clinton's for kicking GOP butt every time they run for office.

They are not progressive (4.00 / 4)

Thanks for taking dkos to task. I got wise to them in 2006 during the Lebanon war when they unleashed a barrage of anti-Semitic, anti-Israel garbage. I was stunned, taken aback, and decided never to go there again. When I found out the same thing was going on at the moveon.org forum, I joined just so I could ream them a new one.

I see them in a whole new light these days.

From what I read, the MSM is spreading the story that (4.00 / 4)
DKOS started the bizarre story of Palin saying her daughter's baby was her own.  I don't see them doing anything but using that on DKos as an example of something scandalous for DKos.  But then, I haven't read everylast artical written by the MSM, so maybe they have been willfully spreading it to.

What is more disgraceful in my eyes is the MSMs fascination with the 17 year old's pregnancy.  That is a non story in relation to the election, but they are slobering over it and won't let it go.  The MSM is the national enquirer afterall, and they even get one or two stories right just like the national enquirer, but mostly they are a gossip rag.

she's the only one they know (4.00 / 3)

Hillary - alternative energy

[ Parent ]
They are trying to say she can't handle the country if she can't handle (4.00 / 3)
her 17 year old.  They don't know 17 year olds, or else won't admit to it.  If she had had all the birth control in the world available, the kid most likely would have not used it when she had sex.  Some might have, but the odds aren't good that she would have.  That's a 17 year old for ya.  Although, If Palin had been a little bit more realistic when it comes to promoting abstinence, the kid might have had a 50/50 chance of using something once in a while. If she had actually talked to the kid about using birth control, the chances would have been even better.

[ Parent ]
Birth Control (4.00 / 3)
If she had actually talked to the kid about using birth control, the chances would have been even better.

Do you know that Palin didn't talk to her daughter about birth control? My understanding is that Palin, although pro-life, is pro-contraception.

I understand that you have a problem with Palin on the choice issue. But let's at least be fair.

Your low tolerance of others opinions is getting old.  I will be following the "ignore" method from now on.

[ Parent ]
I'd rather not ignore each other (4.00 / 3)
It's hard to express things on a blog and I think at times comments get misconstrued. I like you. We are sister Hillary supporters. I'm not intolerant of your opinion. I actually agree with most of what you say. I've merely asked you to accurately represent Palin's positions and to be fair, that's all. You really don't know whether Palin spoke to her daughter or not about birth control.

I apologize if that has come across as an attack. This weekend was hard for everyone. I think the Palin announcement made us all long more for Hillary. I'd like to start over. Are you with me? If not, just ignore this comment.

Alice left me in Wonderland.

[ Parent ]
her point is (0.00 / 0)
that when parents talk with their children, sons and daughters, about sex and its consequences, there is a higher chance the kids will make smarter decisions.

The kids mother was pregnant when she was fifteen, and didn't let it stop her. Maybe she made it look too easy.  Maybe the girl wanted that kind of attention too.  She may have taken a knowing chance, it's been known to happen.

It's more than a little important to talk to kids about sex and babies and our dreams for ourselves as well as our dreams for our kids.  Whatever happens, this girl will be a mother when she's still in her teens and she maybe doesn't know her own talents, and has not yet discovered her own dreams. Sometimes girls think motherhood is the only way to 'become' women.

Her choice has landed her into a marriage she didn't freely choose either, she'll be with her husband fifty or sixty years, even if they divorce at some point they share a child, and he'll have a say in their child's future.

It's too common, and it's maybe not the tragedy it would be for a poor girl with no family support, and the girl is perhaps happy and glad enough for now, but to my mind it's a tragedy.

We're with you girl, we're in this together.

Hillary - alternative energy

[ Parent ]
I agree (4.00 / 2)
with what you have said, but we just don't know that Palin didn't have the "sex talk" with her daughter. We just don't know that Palin didn't talk to her about contraception. For all we know her daughter was on the pill. That's the point I'm trying to make. Palin is pro-contraception. We are speculating based on Palin's pro-life, no abortion-no exception stance that she didn't talk her daughter. I guess I'm just not making that point well. My fault.

Alice left me in Wonderland.

A suggestion (4.00 / 1)
it's possible to defend Sarah while understanding the point and not making the poster 'wrong.' that just makes people feel bad.  You could ask her what she means and suggest that she may be right about Sarah but no one really knows.

I thought (4.00 / 2)
I had, but not successfully. Things got a little intense here over the weekend. If you go back and read the diaries since Friday, you'll see what I mean. I missed Saturday, then caught up on Sunday and was overwhelmed by it. It felt like Hillary-hate morphed into Palin-hate. At least thats how it felt to me. Hopscotch and I have worked it out. I hope we have too.

Alice left me in Wonderland.

[ Parent ]
Do you realize, though, that most of my comments in threads we have shared (4.00 / 1)
over the last several days have been met with some type of accusation be it ageism, sexism, unfairness, etc.  I am unwilling and incapable of scripting my comments to meet what you consider fair, or non offensive, and do not deserve to be called on them everytime because they don't.  Palin is a woman but her opinions and issues impact others from now on because she has chosen to be a public figure.  Most likely someone who does not believe in sex education, and believes entirely in abstinence for eveyone in how sex is approached in young people, would not be instructing her own child on methods of birth control to use when she is out having sex at 17.  I would believe that of any politician of any sex who makes statements such as she does regarding public policy. For that matter it is her husbands responsibilty as well as hers to see to that part of their childrens safety and potential  If they are indeed treating their own children differently than what they expect of other parents then they are hypocritical in their public and private lives both.  That is the only part of the "17 year old pregnancy story that is the least bit relevant if that.  She is a public figure now and so she should expect people to question her public policies and statements.

But I just don't feel I should have to word my comments to  please you entirely, because that is not reality or possible.  I just ask that you have more tolerance for others ideas even when they don't meet your standards of fairness. Perhaps you are not always right. I have not met your  posts with correction or admonishing what you say.

That said, I don't want to be on bad terms with anyone or with you because we have been working toward the same goals for months now and probably have much in common. We just see things differently at times.  So, of course I am willing to start over.

[ Parent ]
Starting over (4.00 / 4)
Agreed. I didn't mean to pin you down, but I see now that I did. I apologize. I'm still coming out of the primary war haze of where everything that Hillary ever said or did was attacked, questioned, distorted, and contorted as a means to tear her down. It was painful to see it happen over and over in an endless loop. I don't think any women should have to endure that. Since the Palin announcement, I have felt that kind of energy directed at her. I have felt the implication that if I didn't join in on the attacks that I was either stupid, unconcerned, or agreed with her positions. I know that Palin isn't Hillary, but she is a woman, albeit a woman we disagree with. I want to be fair to her, but my sense of fairness shouldn't be imposed on others. I hope we have a better understanding now.

Alice left me in Wonderland.

[ Parent ]
Thanks for considering what I had to say. (4.00 / 4)
This election is hard on anyone who is a woman, especially if we are sensitive to what has been done to us in the past.  It is too bizarre for words, what is going on.  So, lets just stumble through it the best we can.

The Spectacle (4.00 / 1)
At the Daily Kos, there is a certain level of voyeurism and participation that people enjoy even when disgusted by what they see. Some participate, some like to watch, and some perform because they like being watched (Keith Olberman comes to mind).

Barack Obama's election proves that any male can grow up to be president, provided he's willing to use misogyny as a campaign strategy.

They're liars (4.00 / 3)

Barack Obama is a politician and he will pander to a lot of different people to get elected.  I don't like it, and that doesn't mean I'm going to vote for him or, I'm just saying I could vote for Obama.

I can't see myself being in the same party that associates itself with Dailykos.

I can't see myself being Markos's friend.  I can't see myself hanging out with Markos and Arriana.  They are liars.  Their lies are documented, they are ringleaders of hatred.

They are no better and probably worse than Rev. Wright.

I hope the media keeps on this story because the more it gets out there and they are held responsible and purged from the party, the better off the party will be.

The better off Obama will be.  I could possibly even find myself voting for Obama enthusiastically if he had the guts to dissassociate himself finally from the hatred they stir up in the party.

I might be different than a lot of the folks on this blog in that regard, but my central focus was never really Obama.  Obama is better than McCain.

If one remembers there was even a time that Obama called Dailykos on their hatred.  The truth and tone letter.  So I'm fairly convinced Obama only sucked up to them for political gain.

Atlantic Monthly should fire Andrew Sullivan (4.00 / 4)
and Newsweek should can kos.

[ Parent ]
well, that was stupid of him (4.00 / 1)
they liked him anyway. he made himself the author by proxy of the Hillary Hate, even though it was there at kos before he decided to run.  He has brought this on himself, thinking only of the primary and not of the implications for the GE and the implications for inspiring woman hate.  I warned him, and over there, from the beginning, asked him to denounce the sexism and hate. But he said that stuff too, and they gleefully reported it.  And politicians put up blogs there, pandering to them and making them feel important.  They tried to get real life info on some of my friends, one friend who is handicapped gets regular death threats and she has a daughter who's had a big fear problem since the death threats started.  Those are cheeto death threats, from Barack's supporters, and to my knowledge he hasn't said 'bloggers' are off limits and ought not be threatened with death.  Not to mention handicapped older female bloggers.

Mr. Obama has some work to do if he wants girls who have been the targets of hate speech and threats to think of him as anything more than a scary bully who uses hate to pander to his angriest supporters. I think his hate bloggers earn points, so he's paying for hate?  (don't know for sure ,maybe he reads their comments and won't give points for hate).

I'm a dem, and like you I'll vote for my party ticket, but if he loses it'll be his own fault and if the party loses it'll be the fault of Dean and Pelosi. What did they think they could get away with, smearing within the party?  that is so stupid as to require banishment.  Let them be sent to Afghanistan, where Nancy can happily refuse to impeach Bush and let us all know we're the wrong ones,no sexism she's ever seen.

McCain's pick was brilliant if he wanted to give Barack one more chance to do the right thing and knew that he wouldn't.  We may not vote pug because of this, I sure won't, but he's shown once again that Barack doesn't know how to unite and may not be all that interested.

I'm mystified by the Obama campaign. (4.00 / 6)
They are directly responsible for much of the division in our party yet they've never attempted to heal it. I understand that Obama needed to win big in SC,  and that's why he played the race card.  But did he really think he could paint the Clinton's as racists and it would just be forgotten when the primaries were over?   A lot of people were really offended by that.

It drives me crazy when I read that party leaders want and expect Hillary to bring her supporters on board.  Obama is the one who drove them away, he's is the one who needs to reach out.

kos' track record: he backs loser, after loser, after loser (4.00 / 6)
He loves Mark Warner - Warner dumped a lot of cash on the first yearly kos conference. Wouldn't be surprised if that's how Warner became the keynote speaker.
There are more questions to ask about Kos. My friend Micah Sifry points out that Moulitsas' reasons for supporting Warner, who is running on the "not Hillary" plank for the Democratic nomination, amount to nothing more than Moulitsas' endorsement of Warner's hiring the "right people." One on level, that's a charming note of support for Kos' book co-author, Jerome Armstrong who has been retained by Warner as a consultant. But it might be something else, too. It may just be a recognition that the Warner campaign - the first candidate Kos singled out when he was asked about the Vegas gathering - is money in the bank for Moulitsas and company.

Kos backed Howard Dean, Ned Lamont, and with vehemence he backed Obama and trashed Hillary. Trashed a major star from his own party. Trashed her as "crazed for power" and "would do anything to win" - a fellow Democrat. Trashed her as a racist who darkened Obama's skin in a TV ad. He needs to be severed from the party.

I found most interesting in the O'Reilly clip is that no one brought up Drudge. Drudge is every bit as bad as DK. I should have known when the Obama campaign legitimized drudge that they were complete slime merchants.

I don't like Sarah Palin's ideology one little bit. I think that conservatism is a loser ideology. However, this whole thing has made me feel very sympathetic for her.

Certainly if they were being fair they should have, but
I can't say I give a crap about fairness in regards to DK at this point.
I haven't so much as clicked on that site since the 'darkened photo' post. I'm embarrassed to have recommended it to anyone - so much so that I've felt the need to 'unrecommend' it to any I had.
The primary campaign opened my eyes in so many ways (none of them pleasant) and I'm still reeling from it, frankly.
By the way, 'Hi' everyone! I've been reading for a while.
Shout out to Edgar 08 - good to see you.
